The 2026 Canadian Championship (French: Championnat canadien 2026) will be the nineteenth edition of the Canadian Championship, the premier men's domestic cup competition in Canadian soccer, and the 25th competition staged to determine the winner of the Voyageurs Cup. It is expected to feature all eleven professional men's soccer teams in Canada, three from Major League Soccer and eight from the Canadian Premier League, along with the champions of the four semi-professional League1 Canada competitions. This tournament will mark the first Voyageurs Cup campaign for Calgary Blizzard SC, Langley United, FC Supra du Québec, and Woodbridge Strikers.[1][2][3]

The winner qualifies for the 2027 CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Format

[edit]

The format for the 2026 tournament has not been announced. Canada Soccer has indicated that seeding will be determined using an expanded Canadian Championship ranking index, which evaluates teams based on their performance in the tournament over the previous four years, with recent results weighted more heavily. The seeding system is intended to place higher-ranked teams into the bracket so they avoid meeting in the Preliminary Round, while also accounting for regional considerations.[4]

The 2025 Canadian Championship consisted of four rounds. The preliminary round consisted of single matches with ties decided by a penalty shoot-out. The quarter-finals and semi-finals were two-legged ties; if the aggregate score was level, ties were decided by a penalty shoot-out. The final was a single match; if tied, the champion would be decided by extra time and, if required, a penalty shoot-out.
