Akai Station (赤井駅, Akai-eki) is a railway station in the city of Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East).
Lines
[edit]Akai Station is served by the Ban'etsu East Line, and is located 4.8 rail kilometers from the official starting point of the line at Iwaki.[1]
Station layout
[edit]The station has one side platform serving a single bi-directional track. The station is unstaffed.[1]
History
[edit]Akai Station opened on July 10, 1915. The station was absorbed into the JR East network upon the privatization of the Japanese National Railways (JNR) on April 1, 1987.[1] A new station building was completed in January 2018.
