Akif Iqbal is a serving two-star general in the Pakistan Army, currently serves as the Director General of Counter Terrorism Directorate (DG-CT ISI) of the Inter-Services Intelligence at ISI Headquarters in Islamabad.[1]
Career
[edit]Iqbal commissioned in 37 Punjab Regiment 84th PMA Long Course in 1991. He was promoted to the rank of Major General from Brigadier in 2019. On promotion as a Major General, Iqbal was appointed as the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Production. From 2021 to 2022, Major General Iqbal was sent to command 9th Infantry Division, Kohat. Major General Akif Iqbal is currently serving as the Director General of Counter Terrorism Directorate (DGCT) at ISI headquarter since 2022.[1]
He was awarded with Hilal-i-Imtiaz for his service in the army from the President of Pakistan, Arif Ali.[2]
