Alejandro “Alex” Masanet Candela (born 1995) is a Spanish professional Counter-Strike player who has competed in both Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Counter-Strike 2 at high levels in Europe. He gained prominence as the in‑game leader (IGL) of Movistar Riders and later played internationally before returning to competition in Spanish teams.[1]
Early life and career
[edit]Alejandro Masanet was born in Alicante, Spain, in 1995. He began playing competitive Counter‑Strike as a teenager, advancing through local and national events before joining professional organisations such as gBots, OverGaming, Atlantis, Epsilon, k1ck, KPI Gaming, Vodafone Giants, and eventually Movistar Riders. Alex has been recognized as one of the key strategic leaders in Spanish Counter‑Strike history. [2]
Professional career

[edit]In 2017, Alex signed with Spanish organisation Movistar Riders to lead their Counter‑Strike roster as in‑game leader (IGL).[3] During his time with Movistar Riders he competed in major CS:GO tournaments and helped the team establish itself as one of Spain’s leading esports organisations.[4]
The 2022 IEM Cologne roster that included Alex and Mopoz achieved significant success for a primarily Spanish lineup, reaching the playoff stages and helping raise the team into the top 10 of global rankings during that period. [5]
During his time at Movistar, he won ESL Challenger at Dreamhack Valencia in 2022 against Outsiders.[6]
Ninjas in Pyjamas
[edit]In late 2023 Alex left Movistar Riders and signed with Swedish organisation Ninjas in Pyjamas, where he competed for several months, including appearances in CS2 events and Major qualifiers. [7]
Gentle Mates
[edit]In 2025, Alex joined French esports organization Gentle Mates, reuniting with former spanish teammates such as Mopoz and continuing to compete in European events such as the CCT European Series and ESL Challenger League. [8]
Playstyle
[edit]Alex is best known for his role as an in‑game leader (IGL), directing his team’s strategies during matches and coordinating tactics across various map types. His leadership has been credited with shaping the competitive identity of his teams at both national and international levels. [9]
