Bruce Stuart Gelb (February 24, 1927 – November 17, 2025) was an American businessman and diplomat. He served as the president of Clairol and vice chairman of Bristol-Myers Squibb.[1]
Background
[edit]Gelb was born in New York City on February 24, 1927.[1][2] His father, Lawrence M. Gelb, founded Clairol in 1931.[3] Gelb graduated from Choate Rosemary Hall in 1945. Gelb was in the military and went on to receive a B.A. from Yale in 1950 and an M.B.A. from Harvard in 1953.[4]
Gelb died on November 17, 2025, at the age of 98 in Naples, Florida.[5]

He was a Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Madison Square Boys and Girls Club; a Life Trustee of Choate Rosemary Hall; a board member of the United Nations Development Corporation; a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Council on Science and Health; Honorary Chairman and a Regent of the Center for Security Policy; and a member of the Advisory Board of the USC Center on Public Diplomacy.[1]
