Day school

A day school can be for children or adults.

A day school for children comprises instruction which they receive during the day[1], after which, in contrast to a boarding school, they return to their homes. Day schools for children have full-day programs in contrast to the programs of a regular school which end early and which require additional after-school programs for those who have working parents. Day schools for children also generally offer them supervised lunches, which is required for those who have working parents, and are held in locations where they are not expected to return home at noon to eat with their families.

A day school for adults can be one of two types. It can be held as a component of adult education.[2] Or it can be held independently[3], as a one-off event, for example to honour a notable person or to examine an historical event or phenomenon. An example of a day school to honour a notable person was held on 6 May 2006 in Ystradgynlais, Wales to honour the life and work of Menna Gallie, the Welsh author.[4]
