B28 high-speed train is a high-speed passenger trainset being developed in India by Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML)[1] under contract from the Integral Coach Factory [2](ICF) for Indian Railways. It represents one of India’s first efforts to produce an indigenous high-speed train[citation needed] capable of operating at speeds of over 250kmph[3]. The train has been designed by Poland's EC Engineering.

The first train is set to be rolled out in 2026, with trials set to be conducted on the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High Speed Corridor, expected some time in 2027[4]. A follow-up order for an additional 16 trainsets[5] is likely according to industry sources.

Facilities

[edit]

The train is planned to have two classes of accommodation, Chair Car and Executive Class. The Chair car is planned to be in a 3x2 configuration. The Executive car is planned to be in a 2x2 configuration with rotating seats similarly found in the Vande Bharat Express trains operated by Indian Railways on it's Broad Gauge Network.
