Chapter 3: The Last Selection is the debut studio album by Swiss beatdown hardcore band Paleface Swiss (at the time under the name Paleface), released on 30 October 2020 through Blood Blast Distribution.[1] It followed the EPs Chapter 1: From the Gallows (2018) and Chapter 2: Witch King (2019).[2]
Background and promotion
[edit]The first single, "Curse Us," was released on 6 September 2020; it was followed by "The Rats," released shortly before the album's release, on 2 October 2020. Later, a music video for the single "Lights Out" was released, on 4 June 2021.[3][4] The record was seen as versatile, having integrated slam and death metal into the beatdown within an apocalyptic setting.[5]
Critical reception
[edit]V13 gave the album a positive review, describing it as a blend of visceral deathcore and the brutal atmosphere of early Slipknot.[1] Ox-Fanzine highlighted the album's excellent production and the variety the record manages to provide with blast beats, groove sections, and tempo changes.[5]

PALEFACE SWISS HAD one hell of a 2024. The band, who formed in Zurich, Switzerland in 2017, had already built a loyal following with two EPs (2018's Chapter 1: From The Gallows and 2019's Chapter 2: Witch King) and two albums (2020's Chapter 3: The Last Selection and 2022's Fear & Dagger), but things kicked off dramatically last year.
