2012 descent in a custom-built submersible called the Deepsea Challenger to the deepest known ocean point on Earth known as Challenger Deep, located in the Marianna Trench.[2][3]

Produced by National Geographic and James Cameron, the film provides insight into the sub's development, and features interviews with James Cameron, scientists and engineers.

The film includes reality-show-like moments where Cameron scolds his engineering team for missing deadlines, flashbacks of a young Cameron using crayons to draw control panels on a cardboard box he imagined as a submarine.[4]

Worldwide Box Office revenue was $234, 990.[5]
