Comment: This draft currently presents evidence of meeting the GNG per substantial coverage in sources as Forbes, The Real Deal, and Axios. However, the persistent issue of promotional tone remains, particularly in the opening and the "Career" section, where non-encyclopedic, laudatory phrasing is used (e.g., descriptions of "strategic vision" or ad hominem descriptions of success). Acceptance Recommendation: Can be Accepted upon an immediate copy-edit to remove all marketing language and ensure the tone adheres to NPOV. Additionally, per WP:BLP, the unsourced birth date should be removed or verified with a citation. Osapolo (talk) 11:33, 7 December 2025 (UTC)
Comment: Very promotional in tone "recognized as a leader in high-end luxury real estate throughout South Florida" "Defortuna's strategic vision and hands-on approach" "Fortune International Group operates in various aspects of the real estate industry, including development, resale brokerage, and new development sales and marketing" "upcoming projects include" Theroadislong (talk) 19:44, 30 July 2024 (UTC)

Edgardo Defortuna is an Argentine-American real estate developer and businessman. He is the founder, president, and chief executive officer of Fortune International Group, a Miami-based real estate development firm. [1][2] Defortuna is fluent in English and Spanish.
Early life and education
[edit]Defortuna was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He received a bachelor’s degree in electrical and mechanical engineering before relocating to the United States in 1983. [3] He later earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Miami.[4]
Career
[edit]After moving to Miami in 1983, Defortuna managed residential properties for absentee owners and acquired a residential real estate brokerage in the Brickell neighborhood.[3] He initially focused on selling units in the Brickell Place complex and established his first office, which later developed into Fortune International Group. [5][6]
During the early 1990s, high inflation in Argentina stimulated demand among Argentine buyers for overseas real estate, including properties in South Florida.[7] Defortuna expanded his activities to provide property management and transactional services to South American clients, including those from Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia, working with legal and financial professionals to facilitate cross-border purchases.[8][9][10] By the early 2000s, Argentine nationals were among the leading foreign purchasers of residential real estate in Miami.[7]
In 1998, Defortuna and his wife, Ana Cristina Defortuna, launched the residential development division of Fortune International Group, undertaking projects in areas such as Brickell, Key Biscayne, Coral Gables, Miami Beach, Aventura, and Sunny Isles Beach.[8][11] One of the firm’s first ground-up developments was Jade Residences at Brickell Bay.[1]
Defortuna was among the early developers of luxury high‑rise buildings in Sunny Isles Beach[11][8], where Fortune International Group developed projects such as Jade Beach (2008), Jade Ocean (2009), and Jade Signature (2018). Jade Signature was developed in collaboration with the architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron and interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon. In 2025–2026, Defortuna represented residential and branded projects associated with B&B Italia, Rafael Vinoly, and Alan Faena, W Hotels, and the NoMad.[12][13]
Community involvement
[edit]Defortuna serves on advisory and governing bodies associated with the Miami Herbert Business School, including real estate advisory councils.[14]. He is also a trustee of Ransom Everglades School[15], a board member of the Argentine‑U.S. Chamber of Commerce[16] in Miami, and a member of the Mayor's International Council.
Personal life
[edit]Defortuna is married to Ana Cristina Defortuna, with whom he has five children.
