Milan Zarkovic (born May 15, 1962) is the associate head coach of the UCLA Bruins men's volleyball team.[1]
Coaching Career
[edit]Milan began his coaching career in 1990 with VC "Anorthosis" in Limassol, where he took his first steps in professional coaching.[1]
From 1992 to 1997, he served as head coach of VC "Enosis Paralimni," continuing to build his reputation and leading his teams to competitive success.[1]
He then coached VC "Pafiakos Silogos Athlopaidion" from 1997 to 2000, guiding the club to multiple championships and cup titles.[1]
In 2000, Zarkovic returned to Serbia as head coach of VC "Partizan" in Belgrade. Over the next four seasons, he won both the league championship and cup titles, establishing himself as a top domestic coach.[1]
Beginning in 2001, Zarkovic also took on the role of head coach of the Serbian Junior National Team, a position he held until 2013. During this period, he led Serbian youth teams to five gold medals at the Balkan Championships, bronze medals at the 2010 European Junior Championships and the 2011 World Junior Championships in Brazil, and gold medals at the 2009 and 2011 World Youth Championships. Under his leadership, Serbia's FIVB ranking rose from No. 28 in 2003 to No. 1 in 2010, while his teams also earned seventh-place finishes at the 2003 World Junior Championships in Iran and the 2005 championships in India.[1]
In 2004, he coached VC "CSS Sfax" in Tunisia, where he once again won both the championship and cup titles.[2]
Zarkovic returned to VC "Partizan" in 2007 and coached the club until 2011, capturing another league championship during the 2010–11 season.
From 2011 to 2012, he served as head coach of Belarus' Senior National Team, adding senior international experience to his résumé.[2]
He continued his professional club coaching career internationally with Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates from 2012 to 2013, extending a club coaching career of more than 20 years across nine different teams.
In October of 2013, Milan joined the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors volleyball team as an assistant coach under Charlie Wade.[3] In 2015 however, after the success of the 2014 season, he was promoted to associate head coach of the program. Under the program he helped coach Wade lead the Warriors to seven appearances in the NCAA Championship tournament, including back-to-back national titles in 2021[4] and '22.[5] He also helped in achieving runner-up status in 2019[6] and '23.[7] During his time in Manoa, UH has accumulated a better than 75 percent and recorded five of the winningest records in program history.
After 12 incredible season with the Rainbow Warriors, Milan announced he would be departing Hawaii and transfer to UCLA with head coach John Hawks, still as associate coach.[8]

[edit]Milan has three children-Stefana, Sinisa, and Ljubica. He got to coach his son Sinisa while coaching for the Rainbow Warriors volleyball team.[9]
