History
[edit]DiCE and K9 era
[edit]Prior to the formation of Mobbstarr, DiCE performed as part of the duo DiCE and K9. Although officially a duo, performances frequently featured collaborators including Hi-C and Trapp.
During this period, the act gained recognition for releases such as Itsumo, which became a notable Filipino urban track of the early 2000s.
Formation (2005)
[edit]In 2005, following K9’s departure from active promotions, DiCE formally established Mobbstarr. The early lineup included DiCE and Hi-C.
Recognition and awards
[edit]In 2009, Mobbstarr was reported as co-winner of the Best Hip-Hop Group award at the Asia Pacific Voize Independent Music Awards (AVIMA), tying with Thailand’s Thaitanium.[1]
The group went on to receive the AVIMA Best Hip-Hop Group award for three consecutive years (2009–2011).[2]
In 2010, Mobbstarr received the Ani ng Dangal award from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, recognizing artistic excellence.[3]
Coverage of Cebuano artists by national media further reflected recognition of artists in the region during this period.[4]
