Rising Dragon School, originally established as Rising Dragon Martial Arts School, is a martial arts and fitness training organisation founded in 2007 by martial artist Scott James Bird in Taining County, Fujian Province, China. The organisation provides residential training programs combining martial arts, physical conditioning, and cultural immersion for international students. Rising Dragon School has operated training programs in China and internationally, including Sweden, Barbados, and the Philippines.
History
[edit]Rising Dragon School was established in 2007 in Taining County, Fujian Province, China, as a residential martial arts training centre for foreign students. The school was founded following renovation and preparation of a rural training facility in a mountainous area outside Taining.
Independent media coverage documented the school’s development during its early years. In July 2011, China Daily published a feature article describing the school as a foreign-run martial arts training centre providing residential instruction for international students.[1]
In 2012, China Central Television, citing Xinhua News Agency, reported on the school’s operation in Fujian Province, describing its international student population and its role in promoting Chinese martial arts culture among foreign participants.[2]
Additional coverage by Xinhua News Agency, syndicated through Sohu News, profiled the founder and documented the school’s operation as a martial arts training institution for foreign students in China.[3]
During the 2010s, Rising Dragon School operated training programs in multiple locations within China, including Fujian Province and Yunnan Province.
International expansion
[edit]Rising Dragon School expanded its activities internationally during the 2010s. Training camps and retreat programs were held in Sweden and Barbados.
In October 2016, Europe Times reported that the organisation had trained nearly 1,000 foreign students since its establishment.[4]
