Sofia Ajram is a Canadian writer, editor and jewelry designer best known for their horror novella Coup de Grâce, which was published with Titan Books in 2024 and won the Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in Long Fiction.[1] Their eponymous jewelry brand Sofia Zakia was launched in 2015.[2]

Life and career

Sofia Ajram was born in Montreal and grew up in Ontario. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Women's Studies and East Asian Studies in 2015 from McGill University, Ajram worked as a metalsmith and began creating her own jewelry in 2015.[3][4]

Ajram's written work has been reviewed in Fangoria, Rue Morgue, and Locus Magazine where they have been called a "major new voice in horror fiction".[5] They were listed as a "writer to watch" by CBC Books.[6] They are the first transgender author to win a Bram Stoker Award in the Long Fiction category.[7]
