Victoria Adunola Samson (born 5 December 1949) is a Nigerian business executive and entrepreneur. She is the co-founder and managing director of BOVAS and Company Limited, a petroleum marketing company in Nigeria. She is known for her role in the downstream oil and gas sector and for receiving the Texaco Latin America/West Africa (LAWA) Best Overall Dealer Award in 1990, becoming the first Nigerian recipient of the award.[1]
Early life and education
[edit]Victoria was born on 5 December 1949 in Iree, Osun State, Nigeria.[2] She attended Ilesa Grammar School for her secondary education. She later attended executive education programmes at Harvard Business School, Lagos Business School, and IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain.[3]
Career
[edit]Victoria began her career in marketing at Mobil Oil Nigeria before becoming a dealer under Texaco Nigeria Limited in 1980.[4]
In 1980, she co-founded BOVAS and Company Limited with her husband, Bamidele Samson. The company expanded into petroleum distribution and retailing across Nigeria.[5]
In 1990, she received the Texaco Best Dealer Award for the Latin America/West Africa region.[6]
She has served in leadership roles in the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) and the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketing Association of Nigeria (DAPPMA).[7]
Honours and recognition
[edit]In 2024, Samson received the Vanguard Personality of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award.[8]
In 2025, she received the Entrepreneurship Ambassador Award from Kings University, Odeomu.[9]
In 2026, she was appointed Chancellor of Osun State University.[10]
Personal life
[edit]Victoria is married to Bamidele Samson, with whom she co-founded BOVAS and Company Limited.[11]
