Alexander Ewen Ratteray (born 18 February 1942, Somerset, Bermuda)[1] is an Anglian bishop who was the Bishop of Bermuda from 1996 to 2008.[2]
Born on 18 February 1942[3] and educated at Codrington College, Barbados, he was ordained in 1966.[4] After a curacy in Pontefract[5] he began to proceed in Church ordained ministries: being successively Vicar of Airedale then Archdeacon of Bermuda[6] before his translation to the episcopacy in 1996.[1] He retired on 31 March 2008.[7]
Ratteray became the first Bermudian to serve as Bishop and the first black Anglican Bishop in Bermuda.[1]
