| Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) | NetBoy |
| Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) | The image illustrates what early webcomics looked like, in a time when bandwidth was a real limitation. The image also depicts NetBoy, one of the earliest known webcomics, and a particularly influential one at that.
The image is also used in the article on NetBoy itself, in order to illustrate the subject of the article. It is the only non-free image used in the article, and is necessary to show the artstyle, subject matter, and main character of the webcomic. |
| Not replaceable with free media because (WP:NFCC#1) |
There are no free images on Commons for webcomics from the early 1990s. This is really the kind of thing that should be shown to be understood. |
| Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) | This image is only a single panel of a larger, long-running comic. The image is tiny and of low resolution. The image will be used in multiple articles, though only in the two articles that focus on the history of webcomics and the article on NetBoy itself. Of course, the image will be used only once in said articles. |

| Other information | Image is also used on List of early webcomics and NetBoy. |
