Fortress Square is a five-storey shopping mall and an entertainment complex located in Lahore Cantonment, Punjab, west of Fortress Cricket Stadium.[1] It was constructed in 2014 by DUPAK Pakistan Developers. The mall houses over 100 local and international stores.
History
[edit]In 2014, a petition in the Lahore High Court alleged that the mall was constructed on government-owned land which previously housed the 114 Brigade headquarters of the Pakistan Army.[2] The petitioner claimed that the land, classified as Class-AI and reserved for military purposes, had been leased by Fortress Stadium Management to DUPAK Pakistan Developers on October 27, 2007, for 33 years without federal government approval.[3][4]
Fortress Stadium Management's counsel maintained that it was part of the army and therefore no petition against it was admissible.[3][5]
