Luxbet was an online betting company based in the Northern Territory, Australia. Luxbet was licensed by the Northern Territory Racing Commission and provided racing, sports and novelty betting options which encompass horse racing, harness racing, greyhound racing and feature racing, as well as American football, Australian rules football, baseball, rugby league, soccer matches and tennis.[1] Luxbet offered betting options through telephone, internet and mobile applications.[2][3]
Luxbet was a subsidiary of Tabcorp.[3] It commenced operations on 1 October 2008. Luxbet ceased operated on 22 December 2017, following the merger between Tabcorp and Tatts Group.[4][5]
History
[edit]Luxbet was launched by Tabcorp to complement its existing gambling services, offering products that were previously unavailable, including bets on non-sporting events such as elections and entertainment.
By 2013, Luxbet generated revenue of over $39 million, an increase of more than 40% from the previous year. The platform also contributed to the racing industry in New South Wales and Victoria through taxes, race field fees, product fees, and a share of profits.[6]
In 2015 Luxbet launched Luxbet Europe offering gambling services to the European market.
Products and services

[edit]Luxbet allowed customers to open betting accounts into which funds could be deposited and used for wagering. Accepted payment methods included credit cards (Visa, Mastercard), online services such as Moneybookers or POLi, and direct bank transfers or BPay. Account holders could place bets online, by telephone, or via mobile applications.
Mobile application store
[edit]Luxbet provided apps for iOS and Android devices. These apps allowed users to open accounts, deposit funds, browse available racing and sports markets, and track results. Functions included topping up accounts via mobile devices and accessing event information on the go.
Betting products
[edit]The platform offered a variety of betting options across horse, greyhound, and harness racing. Racing products included Best of the Best and LuxDiv, which combined prices from multiple totalisators and official on-course bookmakers. Fixed-odds markets and exotic bets were available for both Australian and international racing. Sports betting covered events such as the Melbourne Cup, the Spring Racing Carnival, National Rugby League, Australian Football League, UEFA Champions League, and Premier League, as well as other sports including cricket, basketball, golf, tennis, and motorsports. Luxbet also ran periodic promotional offers, such as weekly bonus bets.
Affiliate programme
[edit]Luxbet operated an affiliate programme through which partners received commissions for referring new customers. Marketing materials were provided to affiliates, and commissions could reach up to 30% of the monthly net revenue generated by referred customers.
ClubXtra
[edit]ClubXtra offered owners and trainers in the horse racing industry the chance to win an additional 12% bonus when they place winning bets on horses trained or owned by them.
Credit betting
[edit]Luxbet offered credit betting facilities to applicants that meet the relevant criteria.
