Malootty is a 1990 Indian Malayalam-language survival drama film directed by Bharathan, starring Shamili in the title role along with Jayaram and Urvashi. The film was inspired by the 1989 American television movie Everybody's Baby: The Rescue of Jessica McClure, which portrayed the real-life rescue of a child who had fallen into a narrow well. Malootty presents a similar situation set in the 1980s, in which a young girl becomes trapped in a drilled borewell and survives after many hours. The title drawings were done by Bharathan's son. Shamili won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Child Artist.[1]
