Meena High Court

Meena High Court is a local social-cultural landmark and community assembly site associated with the Meena (Mina) tribal community in eastern Rajasthan, India. It is not a judicial high court under the Constitution of India; rather the name “High Court” is used symbolically to describe a place for community gatherings, dispute-resolution by local leaders, cultural programmes, and political rallies.^[1]^[2]

History

The Meena High Court originated in the early 1990s after a violent incident and community unrest in 1993, which highlighted grievances of the Meena community against local authorities. In response, large gatherings led by tribal leader Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena transformed the site into a permanent venue for collective assembly.^[3] Over time, community contributions funded its development into a large complex, often described as costing several crores of rupees. Since then, it has functioned as a symbolic “court” of the people—hosting cultural celebrations, community dispute resolutions, and political rallies.^[4] Today, it stands as both a cultural landmark and a political mobilisation hub for the Meena community, though it has no legal status as a court of law.^[5]
