Munna Singh Chauhan is an Indian politician, a post-graduate in physics, and currently a five-term MLA representing Vikasnagar constituency, Dehradun district, Uttarakhand.[1]
Career
[edit]- Served in Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) from 1982–1986.[2]
- Selected by UPSC for the post of Senior Scientific Officer in the Department of Defence Production in 1986 (did not join).[3]
- Selected by ONGC as Executive Trainee Officer, Computer Programming (did not join).[4]
- Awarded National Overseas Scholarship by Government of India for higher studies abroad in 1987 (did not avail scholarship).[5]
- Elected as Block Pramukh (Chairman) of Kshetra Panchayat in 1988; first non-Congress Pramukh in Dehradun district since independence.[6]
- Panel Speaker in Outreach Programme of Lok Sabha for Panchayats in Uttarakhand in 2021.[7]
Political Recognition
[edit]- Selected as 'Most Purposeful MLA' in India by the magazine Fame India in its 2021 survey.[8]
- Delivered lectures at IAS Academy, Mussoorie (Development Plan Formulation), UP Police Academy, Moradabad (Law Enforcement and Civil Administration), and various institutions.[9]
- Panel Chairman of UP Vidhan Sabha (1996–2000) and Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha (2000–2002).[10]
- Chairman, Estimates Committee of Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha (2017–2022). Member, Government Assurance Committee, Rules Committee, Housing Committee, Lokayukt Committee.[11]
- Contributed to Reservation Bills and select committees, including the UK Angdavalkasi Reservation Bill (Women).[12]
- Panelist in orientation programmes for Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha MLAs (2002, 2007, 2017) with Secretary Generals, experts.[13]
