Successor should be of Prophet Muhammad (saw). Kindly update the incorrect information, the references could be sahi Bukhari, chapter of last Hajj of Prophet whom on return to home after Hajj, did stop everyone in place known then as Ghadeer e Khum.
He waited there 3 Days so everyone went ahead could come back and those left behind could reach up. Then made a pulpit of saddles of camel and horses, then stood upon it and said 'man kunto maula fa haza aliyun maula' which means whomsoevers' master/leader I am, Ali(a.s.) is their master/leader too. Hence, direct successor of prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is Imam Ali(a.s.) 2605:8D80:6A3:501D:F56F:5A8A:1A0A:D7B9 (talk) 11:33, 25 March 2024 (UTC)

Title
[edit]Why is it just "Ali" and the "Ali ibn Abi Talib". The American equivalent would be putting "John" for JFK's wikipedia. The Archives show a 19 year old discussion that pivoted to another discussion on 'Ali or Ali*. Can we make it "Ali ibn Abi Talib" instead
*someone mentioned Ok, i hate it when people mutilate articles names like this: ‘Abdu’llah ibn ‘Abdu’l-Muttalib. I want it like this Abd-Allah ibn Abd-al-Muttalib. I do not care how the "underlying Arabic is writen, i want clear-cut English, without damn dots and stuff all over the place. He must be in for a shock when reads about Ernst Röhm or François Gérard Hollande or Björk Guðmundsdóttir.

The article mentions Ali's son Husayn frequently, but does not link "Husayn" (or similar writings) to his Wikipedia article, which is: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Husayn_ibn_Ali 84.61.117.107 (talk) 13:54, 6 October 2025 (UTC)

At least two times. (In the infobox and in section " event of the mubahala") If I am misunderstanding something here, you can tag me in your reply.Slomo666 (talk) 14:15, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
Replace calligraphic seal with portrait of Ali
[edit]This is not done in Mohammed's article because the seal there is the more recognizable image. For Ali, however, the seal is not altogether very significant and should be replaced with one of the other depictions of him already scattered throughout the article. OmegaAOLtalk? 00:11, 12 November 2025 (UTC)
- @OmegaAOL Thanks for the suggestion, I added a portrait that is of the kind that is very commonly used in the Shia tradition.[1] I am in favor of keeping the calligraphic image together with the portrait, since it is high quality and it serves as an implicit reminder that the Sunni tradition almost never depicts him. TheJoyfulTentmaker (talk) 03:07, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
- Great. I am of the opinion that this practice (seal and portrait) should be made the norm across articles of Islamic prophets if possible. OmegaAOLtalk? 03:10, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
Remove Potrait of Ali with Tiger
[edit]please remove it he was very respectable caliph amir Al muminin his face mubarak was very high no normal man can reach it please don't add any painting to his face mubarak ~2025-35764-12 (talk) 16:30, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
- They're not gonna remove it because of this mindless policy. I honestly don't completely agree with that policy but, oh well, what can I do. Hacked (Talk|Contribs) 16:36, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, I understand the concern, but depictions like this one are very commonly used to represent Ali in the Shia and Alevi traditions. They can be found everywhere in the world where this belief has some prominence (Iran, Turkey, parts of Syria and Lebanon). I believe it has a strong association with the subject of this article, and clearly we have WP:NOTCENSORED, as mentioned. TheJoyfulTentmaker (talk) 20:45, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
- he r.a is revered both in sunni and Shia we need to respect both sunni and Shia. If one of the sects doesn't deems to see portrait of a respectable companion and caliph and best friend of the prophet Muhammad S.A.W. so then we should remove the portrait. If we can't show the face of prophet s.a.w we should also not show ali r.a face and even other rashidun caliphs respectively ~2025-43295-61 (talk) 07:58, 3 January 2026 (UTC)
