Is the phrasing "For ship named after her" correct?
[edit]Or do we need to add "the"? Apokrif (talk) 03:06, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
Add two citations
[edit]BB has been convicted of inciting racial hatred six times. I have tried every which way to merely note this with two sentences with citations. SEE BELOW But for some reason they keep getting taken down Why?
Bardot has been convicted of inciting racial hatred multiple times. {https://www.reuters.com/article/idINIndia-33883520080603} Bardot is handed her sixth fine for “Inciting Racial Hatred” {https://www.vanityfair.com/style/2021/11/brigitte-bardot-fined-for-inciting-racial-hatred}
She has been convicted SIX TIMES! This seems noteworthy! 73.24.160.43 (talk) 02:36, 29 April 2023 (UTC)
- The facts of these stories are certainly worthy of inclusion, but you need to be more careful in how you attempt to include them. We have a responsibility to ensure, per WP:BLP, that the tone is neutral. It’s especially worth noting guidelines at MOS:RACIST, given that some of your edits included phrasing like
Bardot is a fascist.
andBardot is a racist …
. - While I disagree with the decision to remove these well-sourced—if poorly phrased—additions outright, it is likely that other editors are put off by your unceasing attempts, as well as by your phrasing. For better or worse, it is not their responsibility to copy edit your contentious labels, rather than simply removing them. Remember pragmatically, it is always easier for other editors (who are all volunteers) to just click undo, than to edit your additions, especially when your additions are contentious. In all: consider phrasing these sorts of additions carefully. It is not Wikipedia’s place to call her a racist, but we can certainly note that she has been indicted for inciting racial hatred. — HTGS (talk) 23:51, 30 April 2023 (UTC)

Pronunciation
[edit]Somebody replaced ʒ with dʒ in the name pronunciation in English. If it is correct then, probably, it is necessary to change also the pronunciation respelling. Maybe brij-EET or even BRIJ-eet? D.M. from Ukraine (talk) 20:51, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
Probably, BRI-jit would be proper pronunciation respelling. I will change it this way if nobody replies. --D.M. from Ukraine (talk) 15:44, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
- Pronunciations will vary depending on regional and personal accents. I have removed this per MOS:LEADCLUTTER. Andrew🐉(talk) 08:29, 29 December 2025 (UTC)

Change: "In 1997, Bardot and her publisher, Éditions Grasset, were ordered to pay 28,000 pounds because of "hurtful remarks" about her son and former husband Jacques Charrier contained in her autobiography." to: "In 1997, Bardot and her publisher, Éditions Grasset, were ordered to pay 28,000 pounds because of "hurtful remarks" about her son, and former husband Jacques Charrier, contained in her autobiography." ~2025-33147-77 (talk) 14:09, 28 December 2025 (UTC)
Not done. That's an inappropriate comma. I can kind of see what you're going for, but that's not the way to get there. –Deacon Vorbis (carbon • videos) 14:26, 28 December 2025 (UTC)
I've reworked the paragraph to make it clearer. Andrew🐉(talk) 07:53, 29 December 2025 (UTC)

In reference to the sentence
"[Bardot] was the subject of philosopher Simone de Beauvoir's 1959 essay The Lolita Syndrome, which described her as a "locomotive of women's history" and built upon existentialist themes to declare her the most liberated woman of France,"
the claims made are unsubstantiated by the de Beauvoir's essay. Neither the term "locomotive of women's history" nor Bridgette Bardot's supposed liberation are mentioned. It is not clear where these ideas originated.
"[Vadim] invented a resolutely modern version of ‘the eternal female’ and thereby launched a new type of eroticism" Is a sentence that does appear in de Beauvoir's essay in reference to the film "And God Created Woman" [page 8]. https://archive.org/details/SimoneDeBeauvoirBrigitteBardotAndTheLOlitaSyndromecut/page/n7/mode/2up
It is apparent in de Beauvoir's essay that Bardot was a bringer of sexual evolution. I suggest revising the wiki entry using this primary source material to further discuss the importance of the film "And God Created Woman," and either rearranging or removing the mention of her nickname "sex kitten," which seems less relevant to her iconic status and does not capture the remarkable culture-shifting she precipitated by her ingenuous and candid sexuality, which drew admiration and hostility alike. ~2025-43864-78 (talk) 14:58, 29 December 2025 (UTC)
- You are correct that "locomotive of women's history" does not appear in The Lolita Syndrome. Perhaps it is from another work by de Beauvoir? I would argue that the essay does describe Bardot as a liberated woman and a symbol of women's liberation, though "the most liberated woman of France" seems like hyperbole. Not done: it's not clear what changes you want made. Please detail the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Because this does not look like an edit request at all, rather like an essay to back up a theory that you have not mentioned. Theeverywhereperson (talk here) 19:13, 31 December 2025 (UTC)
Proseline in Politics and legal issues
[edit]the section regarding bardot's politics is very WP:PROSELINE-y and (personally) does not make for engaging reading. i wanted to gauge whether people would be on board with further separating this section into subheaders dealing with individual topics (e.g. race, animal rights, gender etc.)
i recognise that a lot of the time the issues discussed cover several different issues, and so it might be tough to keep the exact context of each comment, but i think it would be preferable to the wall of text we have currently. Blaithnaid (talk) 21:38, 29 December 2025 (UTC)
