The issue whether England is a country or not has been repeatedly raised. The outcome of discussion is that England is a country. This has been confirmed in formal mediation with respect to Wales, though the general issues are common amongst England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. The discussion about Wales is summarised in this archive. This article is written in British English, which has its own spelling conventions (colour, travelled, centre, defence, artefact, analyse) and some terms may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus.

England was one of the Geography and places good articles, but it has been removed from the list. There are suggestions below for improving the article to meet the good article criteria. Once these issues have been addressed, the article can be renominated. Editors may also seek a reassessment of the decision if they believe there was a mistake.

Under history and the Roman Empire picture add a link to the Housesteads Roman fort and change the picture to the image linked here, as it shows the fort better and its features from above, including its vast size. This edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= parameter to no to reactivate your request. On desktop, and on mobile if you are viewing vertically or on a tablet, this article's prose structure could do with an urgent improvement. Some of the images do not align well with the text when you are viewing on 'standard mode'. The image under 'media', for example, doesn't line up with the text well, leaving an awkward space. I suggest a review is taken per Wikipedia:Manual of Style, to improve the position of some of the media on this page, so the text assigns better.
