If wiki really prioritizes accurate information than he wouldn’t be listed as a professional boxer. He’s not in any leagues nor is he a member of any professional boxing organization that is reputable and established. He’s is an exhibition fighter who didn’t go through the proper channels and for all intents and purposes he is just an entertainer/stuntman similar to wrestling stars in the WWE. It is not fair to hard working boxers that did the leg work and paid due diligence and should be corrected. If they have a half-time fan shot event at a NBA game and I score that does not mean I’m part of the team… the league didn’t sign me I can’t just come in and call my self a NBA star. 2600:382:2721:827C:8129:1378:AEDB:7F1 (talk) 23:59, 18 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
“Professional” is pushing it. Yes he has had fights sanctioned by these bodies but he is not a member of any boxing committee, saying they are professional fights is massively exaggerating the truth, when at best they have been exhibitions with contractual obligations in favour of JP. Like the OP says it massively detracts from actual professional boxers who have learned their craft and honed their skills in the ring. I can get a diploma online that says I am a doctor, it doesn’t make it true and more crucially would give people the impression that I have skills that I do not. ~2025-34006-61 (talk) 12:19, 16 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Regardless of your or anyone else's opinion on Paul, his boxing ability or the legitamicy of his fights, he is a professional boxer. Professional boxing is defined (per it's Wiki article) as "regulated, sanctioned boxing", which a number of Paul's fights have been. Furthermore, the same article goes on to list major sanctioning bodies, one of which being the World Boxing Association, which currently has Jake Paul listed as the No. 14 ranked boxer in their cruiserweight division. Anyone's beliefs on whether his contributions to the sport are positive or not have absolutely zero bearing on whether or not he is a professional boxer, which factually, he is. The first time he fought against soneone who wasn't an old man, he got a broken jaw. I imagine RS will reflect that soon and we'll need to reevaluate calling him a professional boxer. TarnishedPathtalk03:23, 21 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
He does meet the requirements for being a professional boxer, having boxed in multiple professional, sanctioned fights. The main problem with this article is that it gives a huge amount of undue weight to his nascent boxing career rather than what he’s notable for, which is being an influencer. Needs to be fixed.
