Background Picture
[edit]Why is the flag of Israel set as the main picture for the article about katakana? I don't see any relation, except that the "Israel" would be written using katakana. 134.99.37.87 (talk) 18:42, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- @134.99.37.87 Ok, seemed to be a bug or something in my app. I'm sorry 134.99.37.87 (talk) 18:46, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- It's the result of vandalism, which has been reverted. It will be fixed once the cache expires. Nardog (talk) 18:51, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
Alphabet or not?
[edit]The article doesn't mention whether katakana is an alphabet or not. I think this is a common question so it would be good to clarify. --Ysangkok (talk) 19:30, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
- The opening sentence defines it as a syllabary, which makes it redundant to say it's not an alphabet. Nardog (talk) 07:37, 22 February 2024 (UTC)
- Confusing, because unicode has a concept of derived core properties, with one of the properties being 'alphabetic'. You can see that katakana is included in that. So is unicode just wrong or are there multiple definitions of 'alphabet'? --Ysangkok (talk) 14:28, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
