Decriminalization of Homosexuality under Napoleon

[edit]

the decriminalization of Homosexuality in France might have happened in 1794 but crucially, Napoleon was the one who actually codied this in the Penal Code of 1810 and it was spread throughout Europe as a result of his conquests and should be seen as an important stepping stone for gay rights. Napoleon was liberal regarding Homosexuality by the standards of his day and even employed an openly gay minister named Jean-Jacques-Régis de Cambacérès. It's an interesting topic that is very relevant to his legacy today and has not received enough attention in my opinion and perhaps it would fitting to include the mention of this codification in the overview section. 75.100.79.99 (talk) 17:23, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Citation style

[edit]

Hello all

This article used a mix of short footnote styles (268 sfnp v 193 Harvp) so I have asked another user to help me convert them to the majority style (ie sfnp) for the sake of consistency. I hope to eventually get this article up to GA status and I intend to get a consistent short footnote style throughout as I check the citations. Happy to discuss. "commissioned as an officer" -> "commissioned an officer"

[edit]

The first phrase should be changed to the second where used in this article. The second phrase is consistently more widely used for this concept than the first: https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&q=commissioned%20an%20officer,commissioned%20as%20an%20officer 2601:249:807F:6D10:CD21:BB45:9959:830C (talk) 20:55, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Little Corporal

[edit]

Why does "Little Corporal" redirect to this page when the page does not mention that phrase anywhere? 2601:249:807F:6D10:CD21:BB45:9959:830C (talk) 17:22, 19 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
