Renaming "St. Petersburg" to "Petrograd"

[edit]

The capital was renamed to Petrograd in 1914 and maintained this name until being renamed Leningrad in 1924. The original name of Saint Petersburg wasn't restored until 1991. Surely "Petrograd" should therefore be used? Matthewr140 (talk) 09:16, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sentence needs more context, add year

[edit]

In the "February Revolution" section, the first sentence is

> At the beginning of February, Petrograd workers began several strikes and demonstrations.

I had to check to make sure that this was February 1917.

Could somebody edit the sentence to say

> At the beginning of February 1917

instead?

Speculation and missing sources?

[edit]

In the third paragraph of the text about the October Revolution, I'm missing sources. Furthermore, it also seems like speculation on potential results for the left SR is not appropriate here. Could someone add sources to this part or otherwise modify it to be more in line with Wikipedia standards? PottedPlantUnleashed (talk) 08:45, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

On the murder of the imperial family

[edit]

Is it possible to add that not only Lenin's direct order has never been confirmed, there is also no evidence that it ever happened based on extensive archival investigation by the (anticommunist) Russian Government?

in the Murder of the Romanov family page on wikipedia, we have direct mention to the investigation, maybe we could adapt the text to be more like it:

"A 2011 investigation concluded that, despite the opening of state archives in the post-Soviet years, no written document has been found which proves Lenin or Sverdlov ordered the executions. However, they endorsed the killings after they occurred." see in: Murder of the Romanov family SambaReal (talk) 15:17, 6 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Probably not, if for the sole reason that this article is about a social revolution – where, for all relevant political agents and participants, the former royal family became profoundly irrelevant almost instantly following 2 March 1917. Remsense 🌈  15:28, 6 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. It's just that I still see a lot of sources mentioning "Lenin's order to take out the Royal family". Being a collective and known wiki, I thought that would be an interesting addition to make clear that there are no evidences SambaReal (talk) 16:35, 6 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
