[edit]

It seems to be come practice on Wikipedia for links containing the pluralized form of the demonym of a country to redirect to the article describing the people/demographics of a country and not the country itself. (Americans, Germans, Romanians, Iraqis, Nigerians, Libyans, Pakistanis, Australians, New Zealanders, South Africans, Brazilians, Mexicans, Chileans, Uruguayans, Spaniards, Poles, etc.) For this reason, I request that the "Soviets" link be changed to redirect to Soviet people instead of redirecting to Soviet Union as it currently does. Redirect target

[edit]

If you look at backlinks, you may readily see that the term refers to the Soviet state, rather than to its people. --Altenmann >talk 20:51, 23 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Altenmann: It's witten exactly opposite above, so? Eurohunter (talk) 20:55, 23 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
The above person does not understand the subject area: "Soviet people" is not the same as "Soviet citizens". --Altenmann >talk 20:59, 23 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

P.S., since this is an informal term, I find its usage in Wikipedia questionable, so I was tempted to turn it into a disambig:

to force people to be more specific, but I am hesitating, due to the large number of the affected pages. I will sit on it for a while. --Altenmann >talk 20:57, 23 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
