| The content of Usus was merged into Usage (language) on 31 Aug 2022. The former page's history now serves to provide attribution for that content in the latter page, and it must not be deleted as long as the latter page exists. For the discussion at that location, see its talk page. |
This article cites a web source at edupedia.pl. I do not speak Polish, but it appears to me that the source consists of user-generated content (note the "Edytuj" buttons on the page). Could some Polish reader verify whether the cite seems to fit the WP:Reliable sources guideline? Cnilep (talk) 01:35, 19 March 2019 (UTC)

Merger with Usus
[edit]The article stub Usus contains some information that might be of interest here but provides it under a lemma that – to my knowledge (and I would call myself a sociolinguist) – is not used in English at all. (The references given are all Polish and Czech, plus one article written in English by a Latvian linguist claiming that the term usus had been used by a Danish and a German linguist and was not used in Latvian anymore.) Therefore I will transfer some of the content of Usus to Usage (language) and make Usus a redirect to Usage (language). --Daniel Bunčić (de wiki · talk · en contrib.) 05:45, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
Missing redirect information at beginning of page
[edit]I was redirected to this article from the IDEA page. I was confused when landing on this page [USAGE (LANGUAGE)] because it lacks a redirect notice from the originating link, 'COMMON USAGE' on the 'IDEA' page. Because the sequence went 'IDEA' [page] > 'COMMON USAGE' [link] > 'USAGE (LANGUAGE)' [page] I looked to see if a redirect statement at the top of this page told me that 'COMMON USAGE' redirected here to 'USAGE (LANGUAGE)'. It did not. Although this is a logical and valid redirect, the change in verbiage from 'COMMON USAGE' to 'USAGE (LANGUAGE)' led me to instinctively check for a redirect notice to confirm that I had indeed landed on the correct page.
In other words, I would recommend adding such a redirect notice at the top of this page to aid other users who may also be confused by this transition. I'm just a regular user and not a wiki editor or anything, so this is my first time submitting anything. Sorry if I'm doing it wrong. I'm just such a heavy user and massive fan and lover of Wikipedia, I just wanted to contribute in some tiny way. Thanks for your time. ~2026-38881-1 (talk) 17:58, 18 January 2026 (UTC)
