Usage

Project banner

The {{WikiProject Islam}} project banner template should be added (not subst:ed) to the talk page of every article within the scope of the project. While the template does not require any additional parameters, it has a number of optional ones that add various extra features to the banner. The full syntax is as follows:

General parameters

• class – valid values are fa, a, ga, b, c, start, stub, fl, list, na (case-insensitive). See the project's quality scale for details. Setting an explicit value of NA is rarely necessary; for this, either leave |class= blank or omit the parameter.
• importance – valid values are: top, high, mid, low, na (case-insensitive). See the project's importance scale for details. Setting an explicit value of NA is rarely necessary; for this, either leave |importance= blank or omit the parameter.
• attention – set |attention=yes if the article needs immediate attention from experienced editors. Use only if another parameter does not cover the need for attention; this should be used sparingly. It is strongly encouraged to also add a section to the talk page explaining what needs attention.
  • This parameter populates Category:Islam articles needing attention.
• needs-infobox – set |needs-infobox=yes if the article needs an infobox. Remember that infoboxes are not suitable for all articles, and can overwhelm short articles.
  • This parameter populates Category:Islam articles needing infoboxes.
• auto – This parameter is for the use of bots and indicates that the article has been automatically rated:
  • |auto=length – based on the length of the article
  • |auto=inherit – because one or more other projects use this class
  • |auto=yes (or |auto=stub), in conjunction with |class=stub – as Stub-Class because it uses a stub template
    • Use of the above values (or value combinations) with this parameter populates Category:Automatically assessed Islam articles.
• category – set |category=no if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.
• listas – This parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for Ziaur Rahman, use |listas=Rahman, Ziaur so that the talk page will show up in the R's and not the Z's of the various assessment and administrative categories). This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter.   If the article is using {{WikiProject banner shell}} then it is preferable to add |listas= to that template instead of a project banner template. Putting the parameter on more than one template is not required.

WikiProject specific parameters

• Islam-and-Controversy – set |Islam-and-Controversy=yes if the article is supported by Islam and Controversy task force.
• Mosques – set |Mosques=yes if the article is supported by Mosques task force.
  • This parameter populates Category:Mosques task force articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Mosque-related articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
• Hadith – set |Hadith=yes if the article is supported by Hadith task force.
  • This parameter populates Category:Hadith task force articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Hadith articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • Hadith-importance (only used if |Hadith=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within Hadith task force
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Hadith articles by importance.
• Muslim-history – set |Muslim-history=yes if the article is supported by Muslim history task force.
  • This parameter populates Category:Muslim history task force articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Muslim history articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • Muslim-history-importance (only used if |Muslim-history=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within Muslim history task force
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Muslim history articles by importance.
• Muslim-scholars – set |Muslim-scholars=yes if the article is supported by Muslim scholars task force.
  • This parameter populates Category:Muslim scholars task force articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Muslim scholars articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • Muslim-scholars-importance (only used if |Muslim-scholars=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within Muslim scholars task force
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Muslim scholars articles by importance.
• Salaf – set |Salaf=yes if the article is supported by Salaf task force.
  • This parameter populates Category:Salaf task force articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Salaf articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • Salaf-importance (only used if |Salaf=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within Salaf task force
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Salaf articles by importance.
• Shi'a-Islam – set |Shi'a-Islam=yes if the article is supported by Shi'a Islam task force.
  • This parameter populates Category:Shi'a Islam task force articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Shi'a Islam articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • Shi'a-Islam-importance (only used if |Shi'a-Islam=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within Shi'a Islam task force
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Shi'a Islam articles by importance.

• Alternatively, the Shi'a Islam task force and importance can be invoked with |Shia=yes and |Shia-importance=yes respectively.

• Sunni-Islam – set |Sunni-Islam=yes if the article is supported by Sunni Islam task force.
  • This parameter populates Category:Sunni Islam task force articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Sunni Islam articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • Sunni-Islam-importance (only used if |Sunni-Islam=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within Sunni Islam task force
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Sunni Islam articles by importance.

• Alternatively, the Sunni Islam task force and importance can be invoked with |Sunni=yes and |Sunni-importance=yes respectively.

• religious-texts – set |religious-texts=yes if the article is supported by WikiProject Religious texts.
  • This parameter populates Category:WikiProject Religious texts articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Religious texts articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • religious-texts-importance (only used if |religious-texts=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within WikiProject Religious texts
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Religious texts articles by importance.
• jesus – set |jesus=yes if the article is supported by Jesus work group.
  • This parameter populates Category:Jesus work group articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Jesus work group articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • jesus-importance (only used if |jesus=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within Jesus work group
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Jesus work group articles by importance.
• Ahmadiyya – set |Ahmadiyya=yes if the article is supported by Ahmadiyya task force.
  • This parameter populates Category:Ahmadiyya task force articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Ahmadiyya articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • Ahmadiyya-importance (only used if |Ahmadiyya=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within Ahmadiyya task force

To avoid needlessly cluttering up talk pages, it is usually appropriate to remove any unused parameters from the template.
