About me

[edit]I don't think much about me is necessary. I enjoy writing, mainly about topics relating to history. I like scouring the internet for references and such for articles. My time zone is Eastern Standard/Daylight Time. Check out my userboxes if you wanna learn more.
What I do here
[edit]I tend to write or remaster articles that I stumble across, primarily related to maritime history. My specific niche is the Second Happy Time, a period in World War II where German U-boats sank Allied merchant shipping off the East Coast of the United States during the first half of 1942. I write articles of sunken Allied merchant ships and vessels from the US Navy and Coast Guard.

I firmly believe in helping new users find their way around this quite daunting platform. It makes me sad to see them leave or give up after being reverted, or having a draft declined, etc. – so I hope to foster their growth by serving as both a mentor and a Teahouse host.

My Wikipedia history
[edit]I joined Wikipedia on March 27, 2024 under the username SSBelfastFanatic, and promptly got to work writing articles—in hindsight, this was a big mistake. I wrote a number of poor-quality articles before I finally got one published. Even now, it's not really of great quality and I'm quite surprised how it got through. I became autoconfirmed on March 31 and extended confirmed on September 19. I changed my username to PhoenixCaelestis around that same time.
I started writing articles about the Second Happy Time in October 2024, the first of which was this article. I had no clue what image copyright was and uploaded a bunch of images, none of which stuck around for long before they were deleted. I've since improved in article-writing quality as well as my knowledge of image copyright.
I've made working on the Second Happy Time my goal since summer 2025. I got my first GA-class article on July 2, 2025, and my second on September 23. I was voted Military History Newcomer of the Year in December 2025.
