As a practicing Catholic, I am interested in the affairs of the Church. Putting egoistic desires over the spirit seemed more fulfilling for me growing up—I still struggle with fleshly desires—but now I see that life is merely temporary, and death comes for us all. We may believe we're powerful and that our free will bypasses God, but we are just shards of sand in a desert. What makes God so powerful is that He cares for mere sand and us as His everlasting creation.
Now, for one to understand faith's true light and beauty, they must firstly confront the darkness of it. I'm willing to confront my own biases and the struggles of the Church; I believe in neutrality, as well as allowing others to find out the Truth through non-biased sources. In the end, we are each seeking out the Truth, which remains ultimately higher than us. Much like a boxer preparing for a fight, we must confront our own weakness and darkness to configure ourselves to the light—the only way light retains power is if darkness exists.
2 Chronicles 7:14: "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
