I am a lonely fan of the chamber cinema style, which is either ignored in the literature entirely or used derisively and pejoratively ("stagey"). Exponents of the dramatic form include Ingmar Bergman, Alfred Hitchcock, Sidney Lumet, Rod Serling, Gene Roddenberry, Bryan Singer, Quentin Tarantino, Tommy Lee Jones, Richard Schenkman, Jeffrey St. Jules, and many others. For a related concept, see Kammerspielfilm.
Don't Look Up (2021) still remains one of my favorite comedies of all time, with an underappreciated score by Nicholas Britell.
Paul Krugman: "A group of political scientists who monitor the functioning of democracy in many countries...now rate the United States as an 'illiberal democracy'. That means that the ruling party can still lose elections, so we aren't a full autocracy just yet. However, that democracy is on the ropes because the power of the state is being used to put a heavy thumb on the scales, tilting us towards autocracy. Much of our legacy media is still in denial about this reality, or is actively trying to cover it up."
