Snooker world rankings 1990/1991
[edit]I'm not expecting you to recall an edit from ten years ago in detail, but is there any reason that you removed Alex Higgins from the list in your edit to Snooker world rankings 1990/1991 in the Revision as of 16:10, 24 June 2013? As far as I can tell, from sources, he should be listed at 14th. Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 13:27, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
- @BennyOnTheLoose: I don’t know, but according to two of the sources in the article he wasn’t ranked 14th. Regards, Armbrust The Homunculus 13:55, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
- Interesting. Snooker Scene lists him at 14th at the start of the season - perhaps he got fined points later. I'll have a look. Thanks! Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 14:08, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
- Ah yes, I should have remembered, a ban, and 25 points deducted. This was after the initial ranking list was published. Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 14:14, 15 May 2023 (UTC)

Snooker lists
[edit]Hello. Back in 2012 you created a template called Template:Snooker ranking title winners. As far as I can ascertain, the only place this is used is in the List of snooker players by number of ranking titles. Now this is very clever and it works really well. I have recently been going through various snooker related lists changing {{flagicon|}} to the preferred {{flagathlete|}}. I would like to make this change to the List of snooker players by number of ranking titles but noticed that the template specifies using {{flagicon|}}{{sortname||}} for the players' names. Is there a specific reason for this? If not, I will go ahead with the change. I've copied the list into my sandbox and changed the flags etc. and it all seems to work OK. Take a look at it in my sandbox. Please post your answer to this message in the WT:SNOOKER/Snooker lists forum. Thank you. Alan (talk) 20:37, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
- @AlH42: I think that’s just a remnant of a time when the table was sortable. Feel free to make the appropriate changes. Regards, Armbrust The Homunculus

GT Names
[edit]Hey, thanks for updating some of the GT names. Haven't had much time recently, but I've been meaning to check through them—not sure if I ever asked Novem to update the bot in this regard (and possibly {{Article history}} needs to be updated as well?).
Not sure if I've ever thanked you in general for all your help at FGTC, but it is noticed and much appreciated. Aza24 (talk) 19:35, 23 November 2024 (UTC)

Flinders Street Station
[edit]I'm not sure how you want to handle this, it's a little unusual of a situation. If I get a vote, it's at 5 supports, but I'm not sure we need rush it to promotion - it's going to be a fairly quick end-of-restoration-to-promotion time whatever we do. On the other hand, it's buried at the bottom of the page, so how many people will see it, I don't know. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.8% of all FPs. 11:49, 30 January 2025 (UTC)

Hi, I wonder why this file didn't get enough support. I expected to pass here easily due to its notable status, and may be to get opposition on Commons due to the average quality. Instead it passed without any opposition on Commons, and didn't get much support here. Any idea? Yann (talk) 19:45, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Yann: I have no idea. Although it probably didn't help that when listing the articles in which the image appears you listed 1980 Pulitzer Prize. (The first listed article should be the article where the picture has the most EV.) Regards, Armbrust The Homunculus 07:08, 11 May 2025 (UTC)

2043 Picture of the Day
[edit]Hello! I noticed that File:The Burning of the USS Missouri in Gibraltar.jpg is set to be the picture of the day on...August 26, 2043? Since there are no other PoTDs for that year, and almost certainly that decade, I wanted to reach out and ask if it was intentional as you were the one who made Template:POTD/2043-08-26. Was this intentional? Am I an idiot overlooking something? Confused, GGOTCC 22:58, 5 August 2025 (UTC)
- Wait, that's 200 years after the event depicted occurred. Is that it? GGOTCC 22:59, 5 August 2025 (UTC)
- @GGOTCC: Actually, that was scheduled by Amakuru. Regards, Armbrust The Homunculus 02:32, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
This and similar edits have caused Linter syntax errors in templates, which are then transcluded onto over 2,000 pages. You could have seen the problem if you had used Preview before saving and moving on to the next template. Please return to these templates and either revert your changes or comment out the entire line of wikitext, like this. – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:03, 20 August 2025 (UTC)

Links in featured picture gallery
[edit]Hello. First of all, thank you for promoting the image of the Joneses, and adding it to the appropriate gallery. I am confused, though - is there a policy in place limiting each image to a single link? I'm unable to find a reference to one, but I may be missing something. If there is such a policy, why? It's not as though we're liable to run out of links. Excluding a link to his page isn't an improvement over excluding a link to hers. The portrait is of two people - why not link to both articles? —Ganesha811 (talk) 02:01, 27 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Ganesha811: That's not a policy, but the closing procedure for feature picture candidates. Armbrust The Homunculus 19:19, 28 October 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for sharing that. I don't see anything there that precludes having two links in the description. The image is of two people, after all. —Ganesha811 (talk) 19:43, 28 October 2025 (UTC)
- The third paragraph is about the caption, and none of the examples has more than one link. Armbrust The Homunculus 21:13, 28 October 2025 (UTC)
- That seems like mild wikilawyering to me. The procedure is not prescriptive. Is there any actual reason to avoid having two links in this image caption? This kind of situation is where WP:IAR comes in handy. Again, there are two people in the picture, and we have decent-quality articles on both. Adding a second link would not make the caption even a fraction longer to a reader. I'm going to re-add the second link, as clearly there is no actual consensus against such a thing. —Ganesha811 (talk) 21:46, 28 October 2025 (UTC)

FP missing star
[edit]Hi Armbrust, FYI this FP doesn't have a star or a "local description". The nom is here. I wasn't able to fix it. Bammesk (talk) 02:59, 3 December 2025 (UTC)
- The file was renamed on Commons, the FP star is at File:071R01.jpg. Unfortunately the current title is on the blacklist, so I can't create it either. Regards, Armbrust The Homunculus 21:04, 3 December 2025 (UTC)

Trinity (nuclear test) FP
[edit]Thanks for your note re this. I looked at the American history page first, but didn't get deep enough to find this classic photo.
I'm thinking that the Weaponry page is the better place for this, as it already has several other nuclear-weapons test FPs. Would you be OK if I delete the older copy at American History FPs, and restore it to the Weaponry page? Pete Tillman (talk) 16:01, 13 December 2025 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:WDVD logo.png
[edit]
Thanks for uploading File:WDVD logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of non-free use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 04:36, 3 January 2026 (UTC)
Replaceable non-free use File:Mikel Scicluna.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading File:Mikel Scicluna.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}}below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing<your reason>with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
This is an automated notification. Please refer to the page's history for further information. DatBot (talk) 00:31, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) A lot of bot nonsense and word salad. The important thing: in 2026, this was replaced by a file that's existed on Commons since 2019. Meaning, there's no respect for copyright, no accountability, and plenty of excusing away the idea of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.
