Edit-warring noticeboard

[edit]

Hello! I'm having issues with a certain user on the edit-warring noticeboard. After violating the three-revert rule (despite being warned to stop edit-warring), they proceeded to revert one of my own edits (a diff I posted as evidence of disruption) on the noticeboard. From what I understand, Wikipedia users are never supposed to revert or edit other users' edits on talk pages or noticeboards—even typos. And that user is now still litigating content issues[1] six hours after your warning[2] to stop. Israell (talk) 02:41, 27 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

And this is? Come on. DatGuyTalkContribs 03:48, 27 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I only replied because they made a false assertion about what I typed elsewhere, which is not fair to me, but I am no longer replying to them (I did not reply to their latest reply). I'll no longer engage with them. Israell (talk) 03:57, 27 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Technical news

  • Starting on November 4, the IP addresses of logged-out editors are no longer being publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account associated with their edits.
  • Administrators will now find that Special:MergeHistory is now significantly more flexible about what it can merge. It can now merge sections taken from the middle of the history of the source (rather than only the start) and insert revisions anywhere in the history of the destination page (rather than only the start). UTRS FYI

[edit]

utrs:108800 is about a block you placed. I was going to unblock but realized you hadn't been notified, in case there was anything you wanted to add. Giraffer (talk) 11:05, 15 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Giraffer: I think the harassing email mentioned in Special:Diff/1119747400 is pretty bad, but only Taichi can say how vulgar it was. After the original block, I was messaged through Special:EmailUser by Lenis as well, continuing to litigate the issue. After waking up the next morning, seeing the aforementioned diff, I revoked email and talkpage access and replied saying emailing me isn't the correct avenue, etc. Over the course of the next month my Wikipedia email's junk folder would receive eight more emails from them, mostly asking for Taichi to be blocked. Then after utrs:107479 was declined I received another email asking for "advice (or help)" for undoing their global lock and two local blocks, to which I have not replied.
I'd like Taichi as the target of the harassment to chime in on how aggressive it was, and if there have been any reoccurences we do not know about in the time after their original block. DatGuyTalkContribs 13:28, 15 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, thanks for the info. I've left a note on the ticket about your reservations here, so hopefully nobody unblocks for now. Taichi, if you would prefer not to comment publicly on the harassment then you are welcome to email me and I can copy whatever you'd like to say onto the ticket (which only admins can see). Giraffer (talk) 13:46, 15 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Giraffer: Thank you for the message. I wasn't aware of the ongoing case. I'm not currently an administrator of the Spanish Wikipedia, but I still monitor certain active cases. Personally, this particular case didn't continue with me. I only have the copy of the email from November 2, 2022, which is written in Spanish. I'd be happy to share it with you privately, as it's a sensitive matter. I should add that, apart from rudely harassing me, he mentions also two administrators of the Spanish Wikipedia in a bad tone. Taichi (talk) 14:00, 15 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think the detail given in this thread is sufficient for us to decline the block. Many thanks to both of you for your input -- cases like these are why we check in with the blocking admin! Giraffer (talk) 14:28, 15 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked account

[edit]

Hi just want to know why my account has been blocked making edits on statistics. Gregward2411 (talk) 12:49, 19 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Gregward2411: I'm not sure what you're referring to. Your account isn't currently blocked. DatGuyTalkContribs 14:23, 19 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Happy holidays!

Happy holidays and a prosperous 2026!

DatGuy, I am so glad you joined the clerk team and I greatly look forward to working alongside you in the new year. Thank you for the dedication you bring to your various roles; I don't think DatBot gets anywhere near enough recognition for the work it gets done. Happy holidays and new year, and the best for 2026!
