Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, ForeverBetter, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as User:ForeverBetter, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

New to Wikipedia? Please consider taking a look at our introductory tutorial or reviewing the contributing to Wikipedia page to learn the basics about editing. Below are a few other good pages about article creation.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. • ForeverBetter, the lead you proposed in no way matches the kind of thing that we do, with the thought examples and bullet point questions, and for the life of me I can't figure out how Smith and grammaticality come into the matter. FYI Smith was in my lit survey class this semester and failed miserably. I mean, even "philosophical term of art" is already not great, and "you will note" is not appropriate. I think you should temper your ambitions and make smaller changes; a total rewriting of the most important part of the article is perhaps aiming a bit too high for early edits. Good luck, Drmies (talk) 21:28, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You're proposing articles for deletion using the "PROD" process. I suggest you wait until you have more experience. Instead, look at the flow of articles that go through deletion discussions at WP:AFD. I think you'll get a sense of what we typically delete and what we keep. You can track just philosophy articles by putting Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Philosophy on your watchlist. You can also go back through that deletion sorting page's history to find links to older discussions. I suggest you participate in some discussions and then start initiating deletions.
In the meantime, do keep critiquing articles on their talk pages as you've been doing. Also, check out WikiProject Philosophy which helps coordinate philosophy editing. They also evaluate and rate existing articles.
Finally, if you decide you still want to keep proposing articles for deletion now, take another look at WP:PROD and double-check the procedures used. Don't put the PROD template on the article talk page - it goes on the article itself. A different template, oldprod, goes on the talk page.
Thanks for your help here. --A. B. (talkcontribsglobal count) 02:50, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, this was all very helpful. I realize now that I was using the wrong process. I will use AfD in the future. ForeverBetter (talk) 12:49, 11 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, ForeverBetter. This message concerns the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, "Normativity".

Drafts that go unedited for six months are eligible for deletion, in accordance with our draftspace policy, and this one has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission, and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you read this, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the draft so you can continue to work on it.
