I appreciate that you are trying to help by adding wikilinks to articles, but it's very important that you check the links for accuracy before you add them. The bot that runs the "link suggestion feature" has no idea whether the links it suggests are correct or not, and sometimes they are not correct; that's why a human editor must confirm them before they are added. Some of the links that you have added over the last few days are incorrect: so, for example, the modern magazine The Bookseller, which you added to the article on the Thomas Middleton play A Trick to Catch the Old One in this edit, has nothing to do with the 17th-century printer and bookseller George Eld. And the football stadium Ten Acres has nothing to do with the 19th-century Avenue House, so the wikilink you added in this edit is also inappropriate. Please remember to check each wikilink carefully before you add it to the article, so that other editors don't have to come along after you and correct the problems. If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask. Thank you! Crawdad Blues (talk) 23:42, 16 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Can a link-suggesting bot also suggest a bad link? (Iluziya7 (talk) 08:16, 17 December 2025 (UTC))[reply]
Yes, it can. All the bot can do is look at sequences of words to see if they match the titles of articles. Many of the suggested links (and most of the ones that you added during your first few days) are correct, especially when they involve simple and unambiguous things like the names of cities or famous persons. But the bot has no way to tell whether a more generic phrase like "ten acres" is a proper noun referring to the football stadium or just a description of the acreage of the park around Avenue House. If the bot were always correct, it could add the links itself without any human intervention. But it does, not infrequently, suggest bad links, which is why a real person needs to check them. You've only been editing for a few days, but you're still smarter than a bot and better able to tell whether a suggested link is appropriate or not. Most of the time it's obvious, but when in doubt, be sure to check before confirming. Crawdad Blues (talk) 13:47, 19 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, wow, you expressed your very true and necessary unique thoughts, thank you for expressing them, we are not like humans, we are smarter than that (you pointed this out, thank you)! May your help on Wikipedia always bring benefits to everyone! Thank you, Happy editing! (Iluziya7 (talk) 14:26, 19 December 2025 (UTC))[reply]

Welcome templates

[edit]

Hi there. I saw you welcomed a user to Wikipedia by copypasting the source of someone else's welcome message and changing the signature.

On Wikipedia, we have 'templates' which are used to create those kinds of stock messages. You can include a template in your message by typing the name of the template contained in {{}} curly brackets. In this case, a relevant template is {{welcome}}

Next time you want to welcome somebody to Wikipedia, try adding {{subst:welcome}} to your message and you'll see how it works. Athanelar (talk) 09:30, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Also @Iluziya7 please stop spamming me with 'thanks' Athanelar (talk) 09:43, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Athanelar. Oh, what great news, okay, I'll do as you said! Thank you! Happy New Year! Enjoy the holiday! May 2026 be a good year! (Iluziya7 (talk) 09:45, 31 December 2025 (UTC))[reply]
You might want to check out H:THANKS. I may have overused it a bit on my first day too - since the option is right there on every comment - but (to my understanding) it's primarily meant to be used when something is especially helpful, but you don't have any reason to leave a longer comment. ChompyTheGogoat (talk) 13:29, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I also use it to acknowledge - for example, if I ask someone to do something and they reply saying they did it. Athanelar (talk) 13:30, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Lots of edits?

[edit]

Hello! It seems from my perspective like you're making a lot of edits very quickly, which is not a bad thing - but it also seems like most of those edits are not meant to be helpful or useful. Just doing useless edits so you can get more rights (or whatever other reason) is actually a type of vandalism, and you could get into a lot of trouble for that.

This is not any kind of official warning, but I think you might get one soon if you keep doing what you're doing. So please continue to be enthusiastic and upbeat, which is great, but please also stick to doing useful work at least 90% of the time. @TooManyFingers. Thank you for your message! (Iluziya7 (talk) 18:30, 2 January 2026 (UTC))[reply]
@TooManyFingers. How can these actions lead to vandalism! (Iluziya7 (talk) 18:31, 2 January 2026 (UTC))[reply]
They don't lead to vandalism, they are vandalism - just a nicer than usual type of vandalism. TooManyFingers (he/him · talk) 18:44, 2 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@TooManyFingers: No they are not. Please read WP:NOTVANDAL. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:17, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Iluziya7 I was just coming here to say the same thing. Please remember that Wikipedia is not social media and not a forum, and there's no need to respond on the Teahouse with things like "thanks for your answer" (especially when you're not the one who asked the question) or "i hope your article goes well."
While the occasional bit of chatter is fine, the majority of your edits should be contributing to the encyclopedia in some way; and while your positivity and friendliness is lovely, we do need to 'stick to business' a bit. Athanelar (talk) 20:10, 2 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@TooManyFingers, @Athanelar, understand thanks! (Iluziya7 (talk) 03:16, 3 January 2026 (UTC))[reply]
You clearly did not understand. I was very tempted to block you from project space entirely, but have decided to leave other help forums available to you should you genuinely need them. This is a FINAL WARNING however that if your teahouse disruption moves elsewhere, you will be more fully blocked. Please focus on articles, which is why we're here. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing certain pages (Wikipedia:Teahouse) for abuse of editing privileges.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Star Mississippi 14:37, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Star Mississippi: Which edit(s) triggered this block? I notice that the "understand thanks!" comment to which you reply, above, was made at 03:16, 3 January 2026; and that Iluziya7 has made only a single edit, not to The Teahouse, since then. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:05, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Pigsonthewing
They've instead been thanking editors, which is why I cautioned them that just moving the disruption isn't the answer. They're welcome to request an unblock, but in my opinion it would be better if they show an indication they understand what Wikipedia is for and that it's why they're here. Star Mississippi 15:11, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I'm having trouble seeing how responding to misuse of the "Thanks" feature by blocking access to The Teahouse is preventative, rather than punitive. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:31, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
and there's no need to respond on the Teahouse with things like "thanks for your answer" (especially when you're not the one who asked the question) complying by instead using the thanks feature for discussions in which they're uninvolved is DE to me @Pigsonthewing. IMO I was being lenient.
@Iluziya7 you have access to all but one page. You're welcome to file an unblock which I would not decline, but is there a reason you need to edit the Teahouse? That's not a core function of the project and you're not there seeking help. Star Mississippi 15:46, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
That doesn't address my point about punitive vs. preventative. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:56, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
No, but my last sentence above does. I'm hoping to prevent them from being further blocked @Pigsonthewing. an INDEF would be punitive. To my knowledge there's no way to block from Thanks, but hoping @Iluziya7 understands. Star Mississippi 16:19, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Star Mississippi. Oh, you're right, if I need help, I'll ask for it! (Iluziya7 (talk) 16:34, 3 January 2026 (UTC))[reply]
@Star Mississippi. Please unblock me, I didn't know I was making these mistakes!(Iluziya7 (talk) 15:41, 3 January 2026 (UTC))[reply]
@Star Mississippi. How to apply for unblocking? (Iluziya7 (talk) 16:44, 3 January 2026 (UTC))[reply]
Please read the instructions above @Iluziya7
You'll need to make a compelling case for the reviewing administrator as to why you need to edit the one page you're blocked from. Star Mississippi 17:00, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Star Mississippi That's right, after editing, I printed the word "happy new year" and then added "." again! Is that what you're saying? (Iluziya7 (talk) 17:06, 3 January 2026 (UTC))[reply]
