Better source request for File:LordChristoCalypsonian.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete or generic. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact source (such as the web page, or printed document) where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain, search engine, pinboard, aggregator, or the direct/bare URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. — Ирука13 22:45, 3 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I unfortunately cannot see the exact copyright hence why I have assumed it is under copyright (by default) I can change it and provide the actual URL to the site where the image is, I can go and change that now. Mwen Sé Kéyòl Translator-a (talk) 10:32, 4 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Belbury, and welcome to Wikipedia. I appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to Alexandre Cazeau de Roumillac, it appears that you added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Your own sketch of what you think a person might have looked like, based on portraits of their relatives, is inappropriate for Wikipedia. Belbury (talk) 09:07, 11 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I can cite a source, but then the one for Pierre Charles L’Enfant, which has a original art piece from 1974 must go. Mwen Sé Kéyòl Translator-a (talk) 09:50, 11 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Don’t worry just wait a couple hundred years and it’ll be back 😂 (That’s a joke btw. Because it seems like paintings from hundred years ago, like on the page of Utnapishtim are allowed). Mwen Sé Kéyòl Translator-a (talk) 09:55, 11 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also,I know how to cite sources, I’m not a beginner, been here for 5 months with many constructive edits and pages. Mwen Sé Kéyòl Translator-a (talk) 09:56, 11 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That's very good to hear! It's perhaps not obvious that a Wikipedia editor drawing a picture from their own imagination is the same as WP:OR (or WP:SYNTH), so I thought I'd draw your attention to that.
Old paintings are more useful because there's some historical interest in showing what a notable painter and/or book publisher thought a person might have looked like, at a particular point in time. Belbury (talk) 10:15, 11 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh ok yeah I understand, no worries, if anyone ever wants to use them that’s fine, I’ll keep them on my user page if anyone wants to see my depiction of them, hopefully that’s allowed. I hope people don’t think my credibility is worse now due to this, I didn’t think what I was doing was necessarily wrong but now I understand. Replaceable non-free use File:Gros Point.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Gros Point.jpeg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 21:36, 16 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I will search for a free alternative, but I can’t find many images that say “copyright free” although there probably are, I’ll search and try find one which contains it. Mwen Sé Kéyòl Translator-a (talk) 08:27, 17 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think you need to search for a free alternative. If you add {{infobox settlement}}, you can use the location map feature which uses a freely licensed location map, and co-ordinates to create the display in the infobox. Have a look at Victoria, Grenada as an example. -- Whpq (talk) 14:33, 17 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
An that’s ingenious, always thought how I can do that, will try to do that now. Thanks for your help. Mwen Sé Kéyòl Translator-a (talk) 14:48, 17 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I see you are already aware of the Teahouse. It's a great resource for when "always thought how I can do that" occurs to you. If you have any difficulty in creating the infobox, feel free to reach out to me or ask at the Teahouse. -- Whpq (talk) 15:10, 17 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, I managed to find a map site which allows users to export an image (share freely) and I was able to,circle where Gros Point is, could that be allowed, considering it’s a free licensed image and gives a bit of a larger indication of where it is (as opposed to the dot pin, which can be confusing). I can add that new image to the infobox. Thanks for your help. Mwen Sé Kéyòl Translator-a (talk) 15:27, 17 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:CONSIDERATIONS sur QUELQUES PARTIES DU MECHANISME DES SOCIETES.jpeg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:CONSIDERATIONS sur QUELQUES PARTIES DU MECHANISME DES SOCIETES.jpeg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 15:47, 17 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi KeyolTranslater. Thank you for your work on Maran, Grenada. Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Thanks for creating this page for an occupied place that is likely to be independently notable. It would be helpful if something of its modern status could be added. For example, its population. Remember also to use Wikilinks to link to other pages from the articles you create.

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Klbrain}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

Klbrain (talk) 17:04, 19 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

No worries, my device died so I wasn’t able to finish it, I will certainly find more sources and it’s modern history. Thanks. Mwen Sé Kéyòl Translator-a (talk) 18:24, 19 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also Grenada doesn’t have many Census records, and so population can be pretty tricky for more out of town places (so basically places which aren’t Parish capitals). I will try my best though. Mwen Sé Kéyòl Translator-a (talk) 18:45, 19 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: Lord Blakie (December 20)

[edit]
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Somepinkdude was:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
The comment the reviewer left was:
Sources 8 and 10 do not indicate notability as they are obituaries. #11 was written by an unnamed contributor, and therefore does not indicate notability either.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.
