A tag has been placed on Category:Industrial accidents and incidents in Hong Kong indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 03:39, 28 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Labratscientist,

Please do not empty out long-standing categories and create new ones that are only slightly different. This is called "emptying categories out of process" and can be considered disruptive editing. If a category has been around for years, it is better to rename it than have it deleted so that the page history can be retained. If you want a category deleted, renamed or merged, please place a nomination at WP:CFD rather than handling this manually so that other editors can participate in a decision that involves reordering our Wikipedia category structure.

If you have questions about this, please bring them to the Teahouse or contact one of the editors who regularly participates in CFD discussions as categories are handled differently than articles or redirects. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 21:24, 30 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Liz I agree except I didn't create the other one. I figured better empty it sooner before it got worse. Labratscientist (talk) 02:08, 31 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Labratscientist. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, "Center for Marine Studies".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 03:22, 5 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Labratscientist. Thank you for your work on Stage 64. Another editor, 11wallisb, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

This seems to pass WP:GNG. There are a few parts that require citations, please take care of this when you can. Finally, the latter sections of the article read a tad like an essay (see WP:NPOV and WP:ORIGINALITY). WP:WBA may also be of interest to you.

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|11wallisb}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

Yikes! I sent this using the Page Curation tool. There seems to be a formatting bug. I am not sure who maintains this, so I'll play it safe and ping @Significa liberdade. They are an admin and are knowledgeable about this sort of thing! 11WB (talk) 00:28, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind. I forgot to close the NPOV link. Fixed! 11WB (talk) 00:50, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality

[edit]

Greetings! To better understand why HK politicians have Chinese citizenship we can refer to the Nationality law of the PRC, specifically the section “Explanations...” here. Best regards. SigillumVert (talk) 03:58, 10 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I was just searching around and found Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_China/Archive_19#Nationality of Hong Kong people. I think if you really want to mass edit this sort of thing, you should seek consensus and not just drop a line of "There is no such thing...". There might already be a consensus somewhere, I don't really know. Labratscientist (talk) 04:56, 10 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Well I agree that it can be a piped link, but as people have pointed out let's not make our own definition of nationality, there genuinely is no separate nationality for Hong Kong residents. It would be more appropriate to perhaps place a note clarifying right of abode, but there is no nationality called “Chinese (Hong Kong)” these people are Chinese nationals who also have Hong Kong right of abode. SigillumVert (talk) 10:23, 10 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There may be more fields in question: citizenship, nationality
As User:Jiang pointed out Hong Kong residents' nationality treatment differs between mainland and Hong Kong internationally.
There are also discrepancies between how European countries states Hong Kong nationality. Based on this 2018 document by European Commission, the following countries recognize Hong Kong as a nationality: UK, Slovak, Lithuania, Hungary, Germany, Croatia, Bulgaria, Belgium, Austria, etc. And those countries that don't: Sweden, Spain, Netherland, Malta, Latvia, Finland, Estonia, Czech, etc. (It is not my intention to state that this is differences from Hong Kong/Chinese nationality law and what the Western perceives. There must be a historical precedence that I am missing entirely.)
There should be a more extended discussion. It may be desirable to reach a consensus or even draft a Manual of Style. Labratscientist (talk) 07:52, 11 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
While it is true that Chinese nationals with HK RoA are indeed treated differently for immigration purposes, the aforementioned countries do not decide on the nationality of foreigners. Each country decides who is and who isn't a citizen of their country, it is a hallmark of sovereignty. Just like how China cannot the decide who is and who isn't a Slovakian, Slovakia cannot decide who is and who isn't Chinese. Likewise, Slovakia has an absolute right to allow or deny entry into their country of non-EU citizens for whatever reason they want.
I don't think we need an RfC, I mean it's pretty clear once you look at the law and it would be instructions WP:CREEP. SigillumVert (talk) 00:21, 12 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I fully agree with Labratscientist, wiping out everything and just putting "Chinese" erases clarification. Most Chinese nationals cannot even enter HK without a permit. Instead, putting Chinese nationality with HK ROA would, IMO, be the right approach. MowerBreeze (talk) 04:40, 12 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
>putting Chinese nationality with HK ROA
I agree with that. I'm just saying it should be a note, not in parenthesis. SigillumVert (talk) 13:52, 12 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
