Theroadislong (talk) 07:43, 31 March 2025 (UTC)- Thanks so much. I did have a question. I didn't include an infobox image in the draft, as per standard policy, because it would have to be a non-free image. I don't really understand how to upload images to Wikimedia Commons, or correctly file it to comply with the policy on non-free images. Is there any chance I could get someone to upload an image for me so I can put it in? Ladtrack (talk) 17:06, 31 March 2025 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]There were some article and WikiProject talk pages I planned to notify of the NBA WikiProject RfC, but I saw that you beat me to it on every single one; spared me some work. Thanks (p.s. great minds think alike) Left guide (talk) 05:36, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
- No problem. Ladtrack (talk) 17:21, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
- Actually, are you going to vote? I don't think I can because I made the RfC, but you should be able to. The other people in the discussion haven't been shy about it at all. Ladtrack (talk) 20:42, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
- I may at some point if/when I form a stance that also seems like it might meaningfully influence the discussion. You are free to !vote in an RfC you start; there's no prohibition against that. Cheers, Left guide (talk) 09:11, 6 April 2025 (UTC)

AP Newsroom Old Photos Project
[edit]Whats up bro, I just remembered our exchange at the Wilt Chamberlain page where we both agreed that AP Newsroom has hella pages pre-1964 that we can use (Only in newspaper in us tho) but we can work with that
wanna do a project on commons with that starting by uploading basketball player photos then go to other things? Wcamp9 (talk) 14:04, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
- Sure. I'm not sure how much I'd be able to contribute, but if there's anything I can do to help, I'd love to. Ladtrack (talk) 15:46, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
- A good place to start might be George Mikan. His photo is kind of weird (and also from college), and there's some other good choices, like this or this. Plus, like with Wilt, probably another half a dozen photos that could maybe go into the article. One nice thing about Mikan is that his whole basketball career is pre-1964. Ladtrack (talk) 17:09, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Wcamp9: There's also this photo of Mel Triplett that I think can be used as an infobox picture if cropped around his head: https://newsroom.ap.org/editorial-photos-videos/detail?itemid=240e502ac6594cf888ea455b68cd32be&mediatype=photo. That article currently doesn't have a picture. Worth considering perhaps? Ladtrack (talk) 00:17, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
- yeah ok sure Wcamp9 (talk) 01:05, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
- whenever you find an image reverse image it on google and find a version without a watermark Wcamp9 (talk) 13:31, 7 June 2025 (UTC)
- Additionally looking at the sports which we can start on there is a lot of color and black and white football baseball and soccer photos particularly with baseball. There is more photos beyond that including a black and white photo taken at another angle to one of the most famous photos on the planet but it is only public domain if we count it out as in a newspaper, easily able to be found at newspapers on https://www.newspapers.com/ Wcamp9 (talk) 14:29, 7 June 2025 (UTC)

Apple hatnote
[edit]I happened to just notice the discussion about the hatnote on apple, due to the move request now there, and I just want to let you know I think you are 100% correct. There's nothing very unusual about placing a link to the most sought alternative article in a hatnote along with a link to a dab page. In situations like this it's only beneficial to readers. I've restored the old hatnote that used to be there until last March. Station1 (talk) 05:11, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
- I think that's a good idea. If you receive pushback (very likely, in my opinion) and decide to do an RFC on the hatnote, I would be more than happy to throw in my support. Ladtrack (talk) 07:11, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
