[edit]Sorry, FamilySearch is not a reliable soource for wikipedia, because it includes user-generated content. The webpage you linked provides no reputable reference to its wisdom. But even there was one, we better use it instead. --Altenmann >talk 00:01, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
P.S. I see you are new for Wikipedia, so please get yourself familiar with our policies about proper referencing in Wikipedia: WP:CITE and WP:RS. Wiithhouf following these your Draft:Sanwal (surname) will not be accepted. --Altenmann >talk 00:05, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hey, you still deleted it without doing proper research of the last name, there are clear trustworthy sources that some people with the last name Sova are related to people with the last name Sauve, as well as some birth records showing people with the last name Sova also having the last name Sauve. "Dictionary of American Family Names 2nd edition, ©2022 by Patrick Hanks and Oxford University Press" directly states that Sova is also a variation of the surname Sauve. - Plus, do I need to source stuff on a Wikipedia page about a surname? A population with that surname on Wikipedia is more than enough evidence it's a real surname. ObjeCity (talk) 00:26, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- You have to source the origin of the surname. By the way, you wrote "this same source is used in multiple genealogy websites such as Ancestry.com, FamilySearch, Geneanet" - most of these are not reliable, they just rip off info from each other and do not provide scholarly sources, with some exceptions such as Ancestry.com, which has a decency to cite its source. If you arte hgoing to write about surnames , please use the sources recommended by our WikiProject Anthroponymy: Wikipedia:WikiProject Anthroponymy/External resources (etymology). --Altenmann >talk 01:39, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
