[edit]On 10 August 2025, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article Jorge Costa, which you updated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. PFHLai (talk) 15:35, 10 August 2025 (UTC)
ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message
[edit]Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:58, 18 November 2025 (UTC)
I've never seen anything like this before
[edit][1] Probably the downside of instant access to news and match reports for modern footballers is the assumption that a page that isn't so long, cannot be notable. Qué lástima that MD now charges to view the archive, I was on a run of creating a lot of new pages until that happened. Unknown Temptation (talk) 13:41, 14 December 2025 (UTC)
- A little late, but I had just seen your message on WT:FOOTY. From my experience, part of that user's modus operandi is quantity over quality, which results in some usual "tells" that are unexpected for what seems to be a native speaker of English: "Born in [town, country], he is a native of [town, country] (even when it's the same place)" "In 2022 he signed for [nationality] club [club name]. In 2023 he signed for [nationality (even when the same)] club [club name]" "He was described by [nationality] newspaper [title] as "[giant machine translated quote]". I can't point to specific pages, but I have seen some of his creations have completely wrong categories, which suggests a copy and paste job. That could be where this Esplugues malarkey came from. - I saw recently you encountered somebody tagging a lead for citations, and you said you'd never seen that before. Unfortunately, I have several times. In my experience, it is sock puppet accounts trying to boost their edit count so they can return to the scene of the crime. Sometimes it's completely unexplainable like this [2], which according to the user talk page is the one time he's never responded to a post! Unknown Temptation (talk) 16:05, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
"Relocated category, AGAIN!!"
[edit]If the category was changed (not moved) from "People from Utrera" to "Sportspeople from Utrera" on 26 January [3] and you have no objections on your four edits (user and IP) from March to October, why is there this not so WP:CIVIL reaction when the category becomes "Footballers from Utrera"? [4]
MOS:CATORDER "Eponymous categories should appear first. Beyond that, the order in which categories are placed on a page is not governed by any single rule (for example, it does not need to be alphabetical, although partially alphabetical ordering can sometimes be helpful). Normally the most essential, significant categories appear first". The category was not called José Antonio Reyes, nor was the list already alphabetical. There is no right or wrong answer to this, but I doubt a specific category like "Footballers from Utrera" is less "essential, significant" than one about all people from Utrera.
Have a pleasant new year. Unknown Temptation (talk) 22:51, 31 December 2025 (UTC)
Fernando Martín (footballer): MOS:DUPLINK: "Citations stand alone in their usage, so there is no problem with repeating the same link in many citations within an article; e.g. |work=The Guardian." Not a "poor display of last additions" on a page that nobody had bothered to write for the last 15 years. Unknown Temptation (talk) 22:56, 31 December 2025 (UTC)
