Hello, Sandstein,

Orphaned talk pages will be deleted via speedy deletion CSD G8 unless you have tagged the talk page with an G8-exempt template. I'm not sure if you were aware of this when you made this closure that this talk page you merged content to will likely be deleted or moved to Draft space now that you have deleted its article page. ⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Velupillai Prabhakaran.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of non-free use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 19:47, 30 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion by redirection: Beto Altamirano

[edit]

I know that the sources on this article needed work, but I had just said hours before I was going to try to fix the sources when the article was abruptly deleted by redirection. There had been no vote that I could see to come to this conclusion. There isn't really a good opportunity to discuss the living person in detail in the redirected article, so I'm not sure how to proceed. And I don't really understand why this person doesn't fit the barometer of notability, if I can find better sources. HeroicXiphos15 (talk) 18:41, 3 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the way things work here, after seven days deletion discussions can be closed at any time. This one ran for 14 days, so you had more than enough time to make your case. We do not vote, but seek to establish consensus, which in this case was against retaining the article. You should accept that consensus was against you on this issue. Sandstein 20:29, 3 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Even 14 days is pretty fast. I've been busy at work, so I haven't had much time to do more than chip away. I didn't know that articles could be closed after 7 days, and the actual source breakdown that PacificDepths did was much more recent. I appreciate them doing it, but it takes a while to find new sources when practically all of them were flagged for reasons I didn't even know were a thing beforehand. Other people on the page helped improve the article, but I didn't see more than two or three say that it needed to be deleted after that point. Syed Zahur Ahmad

[edit]

Hello, Can you please restore this page? I have found significant new information about his life that I believe could improve the page. I will work on the article to address the issues, and to add reliable sources. Thanks a lot. ~2026-12337-03 (talk) 01:18, 25 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Please provide the three best new sources you found (see WP:THREE). Sandstein 08:37, 26 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Source 1 is not accessible. "Firefox detected an issue and did not continue to nihcr.edu.pk. The website is either misconfigured or your computer clock is set to the wrong time. It’s likely the website’s certificate is expired, which prevents Firefox from connecting securely. If you visit this site, attackers could try to steal information like your passwords, emails, or credit card details."
In Source 2, Syed Zahur Ahmad is only mentioned twice. This is not substantial coverage.
Source 3 is a 450-page book, and you do not specify the relevant pages.
Accordingly, these sources do not establish notability, and I decline the request to restore the article. Sandstein 22:20, 26 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
