Question from Lukepasqua (13:52, 19 September 2025)
[edit]Hello, is there a way to change the Epirus Leonidas page (which is now just a product page) to Epirus, Inc. (company page)? We don't have a company page yet because of the place, Epirus, but would like to get a page with our name, Epirus, Inc. --Lukepasqua (talk) 13:52, 19 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Lukepasqua are you saying you want Epirus Leonidas to be a subsection of of a new page titled "Epirus (Company)"? This may be possible, it would be most easiest if you have enough references to prove that the company is also notable under WP:NCORP. Are there any articles talking a lot about the company itself and not just the Leonidas?
Scaledish! Talkish? Statish.21:12, 22 September 2025 (UTC)- Yes making Epirus Leonidas a subsection of an Epirus company page would be the goal if possible. For a start, here's some stuff that talk about the company:
- The 10 most innovative security companies of 2025 - Fast Company
- This giant microwave may change the future of war | MIT Technology Review
- Epirus secures $250M for Leonidas counter-drone system: 'Star Trek shield' | Fox News
- Defense tech startup Epirus raises $250M Series D to counter drone swarms | TechCrunch
- L3Harris + Epirus collaborate to maximize tactical radio efficiency – SatNews
- NatSec100 Report | Silicon Valley Defense Group
- The Army is using microwave technology to combat drone threats - Fast Company
- Epirus' electromagnetic weapon zaps drone swarm in seconds
- Let me know if any of that is helpful or if there needs to be more or something else. Also, if you think it could work, how should I submit an application or go through the process? Thanks! Lukepasqua (talk) 19:19, 23 September 2025 (UTC)
Careful
[edit]Please be careful to not infer more information from sources than is actually there. For instance, here, you inferred that Piper (the teen who drowned) was a friend of Stroud's. Stroud did not say that they were friends.
You also suggested a causal link between Stroud being forbidden to use the segregated pool and Piper drowning; although I'm sure that's not what you meant, it's what you said.
As well, you speculated as to the motivations of people in 1928. Although your speculation is a sadly plausible one, it is still speculation, and if you can't cite it to a source, it has to come out. DS (talk) 18:08, 24 September 2025 (UTC)
- @DragonflySixtyseven|The former is a small mistake I apologize for.
- In the middle, I don't necessarily agree, however your revision looks fine.
- The later is a relationship indicated by articles already referenced around that I did not realize weren't attached as sources directly to said claim:
- https://www.cspm.org/cos-150-story/kelley-dolphus-stroud/: "However, race officials denied the offer to Dolphus, a decision he and his white track coach L.M. Hunt believed was the result of racism."
- https://gazette.com/2021/01/07/corrected-stroud-belongs-in-colorado-springs-sports-hall-of-fame-from-the-sidelines-22f6f0a6-4a31-11eb-ace8-93ad47a9d9d8/: "Because he was Black, however, he was not allowed to ride the train with white athletes to Boston for the AAU Olympic qualifier race at Harvard University"
- https://gazette.com/2014/02/16/side-streets-a-life-that-epitomized-meaning-of-olympics-1c70af7d-2cce-5832-b4fb-847cc0b6ff38/ "His celebration was short-lived, however, when officials told him he would not be allowed to ride the train with the white athletes. He could run in Boston only if he could find his own transportation."
- https://www.westword.com/arts-culture/uncovering-colorado-track-star-kelley-dolphus-strouds-run-at-the-olympics-18838404/: "While the tryouts’ organizers had promised the winner transportation expenses for the Boston trip, that offer was rescinded when a Black athlete came out on top."
- This all may still be speculation, but it is not my speculation. I will readd this with a cite.
- Overall though a lot of good changes including ones you didn't mention here, thank you for proof reading it.
- this all reads a little abrasive? I feel as if these errors were of only minor significance? Maybe I'm misreading your tone.

Growth News #35
[edit]
A quarterly update from the Growth team on our work to improve the new editor experience.
New releases
[edit]English Wikipedia gets "Add a Link" Structured Task
[edit]We released the "Add a Link" Structured Task to 100% of accounts at English Wikipedia on Tuesday, September 2nd (before then it was available to 20% of accounts).
Growth features for Wikidata
[edit]After examining if the Growth features and Mentorship could be adapted to Wikidata, we activated the Growth features on Beta Wikidata to allow for testing and discussion (T400937). Although some features, like Suggested Edits, are Wikipedia-specific, the Growth team designed most features to be more wiki-agnostic.
Work in progress
[edit]Revise Tone Structured Task
[edit]The Growth team is making progress on the technical architecture, onboarding design, and early user testing. We are targeting an A/B test before the end of this year, with constructive edits by newcomers as the primary success metric.
Add a link to more wikis
[edit]The machine learning team has been working on a new model that can suggest links to more languages, including Urdu, Chinese, and Japanese Wikipedias. We are starting to release the “Add a Link” feature to Wikipedias that weren’t supported by the previous model.
Add a link, which can be configured by the community locally, increases the chance that a new contributor will make their first edit and then continue to participate in Wikipedia.
Research
[edit]The Growth team is involved in several research initiatives to help guide our future work:
Progression System – We have published initial findings from interviews with 10 English and French Wikipedia newcomers. The research examined motivations, challenges, and feedback on a prototype system intended to help editors build confidence, develop skills, and contribute more constructively over time.
Mobile Web Editing Research – This project combines quantitative and qualitative data, community feedback, and user journey analysis to identify possible ways to enhance the mobile editing experience.
Newcomers Survey – This project surveys successful newcomers on English Wikipedia to understand their early editing experiences, tool use, and community interactions.
Community events
[edit]The Growth team participated in several community events to listen, share, and collaborate on improving newcomer experiences across Wikimedia projects.
Wikimania - Organizers as key partners to support newcomers' growth in our movement
This session invited organizers to share how they introduce newcomers to Growth features and the challenges they encounter. The discussion focused on common newcomer questions and opportunities to strengthen collaboration in supporting new editors.
Wikimania - Lightning Talk: Structured Tasks
This talk demonstrated how Structured Tasks help newcomers take their first successful steps on Wikipedia. It shared impact data, community configurations, and a demo of “Add a Link,” illustrating how these tasks make editing more accessible and sustainable, particularly for mobile contributors.
Wikimania - Building a Sustainable Future for Wikimedia Contributors
With active editor numbers declining, the Contributors Strategy aims to create a clearer, more engaging path for participation. This session, led by the WMF Contributors group with involvement from the Editing, Growth, Moderator Tools, and Connection (formerly Campaigns) teams, highlighted efforts to streamline contributor experiences, offer structured and mobile-friendly workflows, and foster meaningful engagement. Participants learned about ongoing initiatives and shared feedback to help shape a more inclusive and sustainable future for Wikimedia contributors.
CEE Meeting - Retaining beginners and improving content moderation: an inclusive and sustainable future for Wikipedia contributors
Many communities face a decline in volunteer engagement. Newcomers often leave soon after joining, while experienced editors struggle to manage increasingly complex workflows and overwhelming backlogs. We presented the Contributors Strategy and the different features and workflows that can help communities to address these challenges. We listened to the specific needs of the CEE communities to help guide the Contributors teams' work.

Guide to temporary accounts
[edit]Hello, Scaledish. This message is being sent to remind you of significant upcoming changes regarding logged-out editing.
Starting 4 November, logged-out editors will no longer have their IP address publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account (TA) associated with their edits. Users with some extended rights like administrators and CheckUsers, as well as users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will still be able to reveal temporary users' IP addresses and all contributions made by temporary accounts from a specific IP address or range.
How do temporary accounts work?
- When a logged-out user completes an edit or a logged action for the first time, a cookie will be set in this user's browser and a temporary account tied with this cookie will be automatically created for them. This account's name will follow the pattern:
~2025-12345-67(a tilde, year of creation, a number split into units of 5). - All subsequent actions by the temporary account user will be attributed to this username. The cookie will expire 90 days after its creation. As long as it exists, all edits made from this device will be attributed to this temporary account. It will be the same account even if the IP address changes, unless the user clears their cookies or uses a different device or web browser.
- A record of the IP address used at the time of each edit will be stored for 90 days after the edit. Users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will be able to see the underlying IP addresses.
- As a measure against vandalism, there are two limitations on the creation of temporary accounts:
- There has to be a minimum of 10 minutes between subsequent temporary account creations from the same IP (or /64 range in case of IPv6).
- There can be a maximum of 6 temporary accounts created from an IP (or /64 range) within a period of 24 hours.
Temporary account IP viewer user right
- Administrators may grant the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right to non-administrators who meet the criteria for granting. Importantly, an editor must make an explicit request for the permission (e.g. at WP:PERM/TAIV)—administrators are not permitted to assign the right without a request.
- Administrators will automatically be able to see temporary account IP information once they have accepted the Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy via Special:Preferences or via the onboarding dialog which comes up after temporary accounts are deployed.
Impact for administrators
- It will be possible to block many abusers by just blocking their temporary accounts. A blocked person won't be able to create new temporary accounts quickly if the admin selects the autoblock option.
- It will still be possible to block an IP address or IP range.
- Temporary accounts will not be retroactively applied to contributions made before the deployment. On Special:Contributions, you will be able to see existing IP user contributions, but not new contributions made by temporary accounts on that IP address. Instead, you should use Special:IPContributions for this (see a video about IPContributions in a gallery below).
Rules about IP information disclosure
- Publicizing an IP address gained through TAIV access is generally not allowed (e.g. ~2025-12345-67 previously edited as 192.0.2.1 or ~2025-12345-67's IP address is 192.0.2.1).
- Publicly linking a TA to another TA is allowed if "reasonably believed to be necessary". (e.g.
~2025-12345-67 and ~2025-12345-68 are likely the same person, so I am counting their reverts together toward 3RR
, but not Hey ~2025-12345-68, you did some good editing as ~2025-12345-67) - See Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer § What can and can't be said for more detailed guidelines.
Useful tools for patrollers
- It is possible to view if a user has opted-in to view temporary account IPs via the User Info card, available in Preferences → Appearance → Advanced options →
Enable the user info card
- This feature also makes it possible for anyone to see the approximate count of temporary accounts active on the same IP address range.
- Special:IPContributions allows viewing all edits and temporary accounts connected to a specific IP address or IP range.
- Similarly, Special:GlobalContributions supports global search for a given temporary account's activity.
- The auto-reveal feature (see video below) allows users with the right permissions to automatically reveal all IP addresses for a limited time window.

[edit]Can you help me change the infobox for Draft:Mr. Beat (Youtuber) he was actually born on 11/6/1981 --John George III (talk) 18:50, 8 November 2025 (UTC)

Question from John George III (04:15, 9 November 2025)
[edit]How to avoid excessively making trivial edits --John George III (talk) 04:15, 9 November 2025 (UTC)
- @John George III I've noticed that you seem really genuinely interested in improving wikipedia. It does seem as if sometimes you make mistakes about other editors intentions such as what happened with RSpaced, and also situations like here when you edited the user page of a blocked user which isn't usually protocol, or here where you seem to have misunderstood the meaning and grammar of this sentence, and also your draft article on Mr. Bean, while overall productive, did need some significant cleanup work to mirror other encyclopedic entries. I'd suggest maybe doing some more simple tasks while you get your bearings, and really to slow down. When you're about to make an edit, proofread it to ensure it actually makes tangible improvements and that you understand the meaning of what you're changing. You seem like a younger editor who I was once upon a time. But then I slowed down and took a breather. But again I'd like to thank you for clearly being very eager about the project. Also, as your mentor, I would encourage you to reach out when you're uncertain about something, and I can give you feedback.

- should I make and edit limit of how many edits to make per day John George III (talk) 18:37, 9 November 2025 (UTC)
- @John George III What I would suggest is after writing an edit, wait 2 minutes before hitting publish. Before hitting publish, reread your changes to make sure they make improvements.

Question from John George III (15:37, 10 November 2025)
[edit]On my draft "Mr. Beat (YouTuber)" it says his channel is "Beat Mr. Beat", which is untrue. I tried to change it,but couldn't figure out how. could you please help me rectify this issue. --John George III (talk) 15:37, 10 November 2025 (UTC)
- @John George III This is an interesting problem I will look into it. Edit: its because you made the youtube handle incorrect. Youtube handles can't have a space. His handle is not "@Mr. Beat", it is "@iammrbeat." This is a good example of when you should check to verify if it was actually correct before, before making a change!
Scaledish! Talkish? Statish.05:42, 12 November 2025 (UTC)- on YouTube I says Mr. Beat Beat though, that's weird, but ok John George III (talk) 16:02, 12 November 2025 (UTC)
- @John George III look below his name on youtube, below his name it says @iammrbeat. Click the link in Wikipedia to verify it takes you to the correct channel, which it does. The handle is different than the display name.
Scaledish! Talkish? Statish.16:17, 12 November 2025 (UTC)- oh thanks Scaledish John George III (talk) 16:41, 12 November 2025 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Team Cherry (disambiguation)
[edit]
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Team Cherry (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is:
- a disambiguation page with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" which lists only one extant Wikipedia page (i.e., there is a primary topic);
- a disambiguation page that lists zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
- a redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" whose target is neither a disambiguation page nor page that has a disambiguation-like function.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 20:38, 11 November 2025 (UTC)

Question from John George III (01:09, 13 November 2025)
[edit]Hey Scaledish, you know how when you search up an article on Wikipedia an image shows up to the side of the article title on the Search Bar. How could I make the Image of Mr. Beat show up on the side when you search up Draft:Mr. Beat (Youtuber) --John George III (talk) 01:09, 13 November 2025 (UTC)
- @John George III I'm not positive, I believe it is done automatically. Perhaps when the article is no longer a draft.

[edit]Scaledish how would I nominate the page "List of Marvel Comics Characters:Q" for deletion. If you believe it shouldn't be deleted pls tell me. Link to article here. --John George III (talk) 04:31, 14 November 2025 (UTC)
- @John George III I feel as if a deletion discussion wouldn't succeed considering there are different lists for other letters?

Question from TimmyisSilly (23:58, 19 November 2025)
[edit]Hello, I am going to be your student. To see if you have the same mindset, I would like to know if you are an innovator. --TimmyisSilly (talk) 23:58, 19 November 2025 (UTC)
- @TimmyisSilly I don't know how I'd reply to this. I would call my professional work innovative, and I certainly don't advocate for the status quo in all cases, but on Wikipedia I don't know what innovation really looks like as a general rule. We have processes and they generally work fairly well

- @Jantac8 Hi, as wikipedia is an encyclopedia it is a very different type of writing. You should create draft articles or expand existing ones based on your knowledge, but unfortunately your current writing isn't directly transferable.

Administrators' newsletter – December 2025
[edit]News and updates for administrators from the past month (November 2025).

- Starting on November 4, the IP addresses of logged-out editors are no longer being publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account associated with their edits.
- Administrators will now find that Special:MergeHistory is now significantly more flexible about what it can merge. It can now merge sections taken from the middle of the history of the source (rather than only the start) and insert revisions anywhere in the history of the destination page (rather than only the start). T382958
- The December 2025 administrator elections are scheduled from Nov 25 – Dec 15.
- An Articles for Creation backlog drive is happening in December 2025, with over 1,000 drafts awaiting review from the past two months. In addition to AfC participants, all administrators and new page patrollers can help review using the Yet Another AFC Helper Script, which can be enabled in the Gadgets settings. Sign up here to participate!

[edit]Hello, just here to ask about this image. You uploaded it back in 2020, noting Matthew Griffin as its author, and stating that it's licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International license. Did Matthew Griffin (Leth) release it under this license to you, does Team Cherry's press kit license it under that (I can't find that, but maybe it does), etc, just please try and prove the license since it's currently nominated for deletion. I trust that it has the license however, due to you being a respected user that has been given multiple permissions. TheSilksongPikmin (talk | contribs) 22:07, 13 December 2025 (UTC)

Question from Wicayonima (03:24, 24 December 2025)
[edit]Hello! I’m completely new to Wikipedia and haven’t made any edits yet. I’d like to start contributing properly, so could you please suggest what kinds of edits are safest for a beginner and what common mistakes I should avoid? Thank you! --Wicayonima (talk) 03:24, 24 December 2025 (UTC)
- @Wicayonima I recommend Help:Introduction and Wikipedia:A primer for newcomers. In general editors will be understanding to mistakes provided its obvious you're trying to be helpful. I might start by using the Special:Random button and seeing if you can expand or correct errors in articles. Over time you will gain a good sense of what good ones look like. But if you have specific interests its easier to give targeted advice.

How do I remove a blank page that used to be a redirect?
[edit]Ahoy, you are my randomly assigned mentor. I removed a redirect https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mook_(gaming)&action=history because it made sense https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Mob_(video_games)#Mook but now there is a blank page, and I don't want that. Theyflower (talk) 01:18, 2 January 2026 (UTC)
- For the future, you can use WP:CSD templates with the appropriate category. However this blanking has been undone by another editor with the reason "would need a separate discussion to delete the redirect"

Administrators' newsletter – January 2026
[edit]News and updates for administrators from the past month (December 2025).
- All general sanctions imposed by the community may now be enforced at the Arbitration Enforcement noticeboard (WP:AE) as a result of a recent RfC.
- Due to the result of a recent RFC, the administrator recall process is amended to extend the deadline for a re-request for adminship to 30 days or the next administrator election, whichever is later.
- Changes to the Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy's disclosure rules include broadening the consecutive-blocks exception to cover all admin actions and removing the requirement to revision-delete permissible disclosures once they become unnecessary (instead requiring only their removal). See WP:TAIVDISCLOSE for more information.
- Following the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections, the following editors have been elected to the Arbitration Committee: Aoidh, Asilvering, Girth Summit, Guerillero, HJ Mitchell, HouseBlaster, Izno, Sdrqaz, SilverLocust.
- The arbitration case Pbsouthwood has been suspended.
