Your submission at Articles for creation: Marc Leo Felix (November 8)

[edit]
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by ChrysGalley was:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
The comment the reviewer left was:
At the moment this does not meet the notability hurdles under WP:BASIC and that's not unusual, it's actually quite difficult for art curators to meet this standard. It need ideally 3 profiles by reliable independent sources, and in depth. So a profile by Le Soir would be useful. Moreover interviews do not count. A lot of the core aspects of this article are based on the first 2 sources. The first one was certainly written by his employer (as director) and probably written by the subject ultimately. So nowhere near independent, it's effectively self-published. The second, from the short section, is an interview and there wasn't much editorial around this (there may be more in the print version, but I suspect it is just the rest of the interview). The other sources are useful for supporting the text of the article, but don't address the core notability and sourcing requirement. So can the submitting editor see if there are other reliable sources covering the career of the subject please? Thank you for the work so far.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

’ll do what I can to locate stronger sources, but Mr. Felix’s online presence appears to exist primarily through citations of his writing and credits as the origin of various sculptures. I found around fifteen citations in MIT Press publications, and JSTOR shows similar results. It also seems that he played a significant role in building the collections of several museums.
Regarding the interview I included — I believed it was acceptable since it’s not an interview with him, but rather with Robert J. Ulrich (who already has his own article), in which Mr. Felix is mentioned prominently.
I’ll continue refining the sourcing, though I had thought this would be relatively straightforward since the article is based on the German Wikipedia version at its core. If it proves too difficult to meet the requirements, I may request deletion.
Again, thank you very much for your detailed and helpful feedback. ThomasToo (talk) 12:40, 10 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I would certainly advocating hunting for more sources. As he is a BLP then there is a higher bar here. I wouldn't delete if unsuccessful, since any day a new piece of reliable sourcing may pop up. But I have to say curators and photographers are extra hard to get entries. Curators never want to write about themselves, but about other people's art. Journalists seem to have an allergy to writing about "snappers". So I can think of about 10 leading curators in Europe right now who do not have a Wikipedia entry, even though their influence on art/museums/cultural life is huge. Whereas if the subject of this article spent 5 minutes playing football for Crewe Alexandra and was then fired for incompetence then they would get an article no trouble at all.
One possible area to explore would be under WP:CREATIVE - if some of their exhibitions had reviews and those reviews mentioned the subject and wasn't a passing reference, then that would help with notability under criteria 3. There the sourcing is on the review, which needs to be reliable, but that may be worth checking. ChrysGalley (talk) 13:32, 10 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you again. I will have a go at it again at some point. It is the structure of Wikipedia and how it views notability which leans more towards media than it does towards notability and contributions within a field. But it is what it is. When I have time I will plug away at it. ThomasToo (talk) 16:01, 11 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Kvinnen. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Ray Kass seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Please note that pages in your personal sandbox, such as User:ThomasToo/sandbox, are not allowed to be filed in categories as if they were already finished articles in mainspace, per WP:USERNOCAT. The page must stay out of any categories while it remains in sandbox, and categories may be added only after the content has been moved into mainspace. As I've already had to remove the page from categories four times, please do not readd it to categories again — and note that if I do have to keep removing it from categories, there may be consequences such as the page's immediate deletion and/or the temporary or permanent removal of your editing privileges on grounds of disruption.
