Welcome to Wikipedia. Your account has been blocked from editing because your username gives the impression that the account represents a group, team, club, organization, company, product, department, or website. Your username is the principal reason for the block. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable, regardless of the username that you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you. You may also read our FAQ for article subjects.

Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change to this account.
  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username of this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.
    • Before requesting your new username, check if it is still available. If the search says "There is no global account for [username]", the username is free to use.

The new username that you choose must represent you as an individual:

  • You are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it also identifies you individually. Examples include: "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

If your username does not represent a group, organization, department, website, or other entity described above, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:UWorld LLC/sandbox/UWorld LLC, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Answering your question

[edit]

Hello UWorld LLC, it looks like you're hitting some of Wikipedia's safeguards against promotional editing. I am your randomly-assigned mentor and I got your question. I see you have been blocked temporarily until you change your username (Wikipedia accounts must never be shared, so you need one that is specific just to you) and that your original draft was deleted because you put it on your user page. I can unblock you if you request a rename, and I can also undelete that draft and put it in the correct place for you to keep working on it if you like. Wikipedia is not an appropriate place for advertising, but if your company meets our criteria to have an article, we do want to cover it. Just let me know. ~ le 🌸 valyn (talk) 10:09, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi LEvalyn! Thank you for reaching out. I'm Brian Medricka, the UWorld employee who was asked to create a Wikipedia page for the company. My CEO is already featured on Wikipedia (Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani), and he has requested a Wikipedia page for his company, UWorld, to mirror our for-profit competitors such as Kaplan, Inc. , Barbri, and The Princeton Review.
When creating the content for our page, we used the Nike, Inc. Wikipedia page as a model.
I would really appreciate it if you could undelete the draft of our page and put it in the correct place so we can keep working on it and eventually get it published. We are definitely not advertising any of our products and truly want to meet all of Wikipedia's criteria for an article just like Kaplan and others.
As far as usernames go, the ultimate goal would be to have UWorld as the page name. Someone at UWorld started building the page before I was employed here, then left and did not share the password or email address that was associated with the account. So my boss suggested UWorld LLC instead. Since that does not meet Wikipedia's guidelines, I'd love to work with you to get the UWorld username back for our page. Is that possible? Can you find out/share what the email address is that's associated with it? Any and all feedback you can provide will be truly helpful.
If we cannot get the UWorld username back, do you have other suggestions that would meet Wikipedia's standards? (We've talked about UWorld Exam Prep or UWorld Test Prep, but that wouldn't really match what our competitors have. Plus, it's not the official name of the company. It would be like saying "Nike Shoes.")
Is communication limited to this box, or can we email back and forth?
Thank you again, in advance, for assisting. We are excited to be part of Wikipedia's UWorld LLC (talk) 16:56, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Before you do anything else, please read WP:COI in detail. You will be required to explicitly declare your conflict of interest in accordance with WP:PAID. You will not be permitted to use any username that represents an organization or a group, and your account must only represent you. There is no "we" for a Wikipedia account. I don't recommend using your actual name, though. You will not be permitted to directly edit content concerning UWorld, or Mr. Pemmasani outside of draft space or article talk. Acroterion (talk) 17:05, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Thanks for responding. I'm very confused now.
I have read the WP:COI in detail, and I've fully disclosed that I'm an employee of UWorld asked to create the page. How can I not use the UWorld username when that is the name of the company? Are you suggesting that I create a personal account using my name but create a UWorld Wikipedia page?
Has anyone read our draft copy to see that it is not, in any way, promotional? All language is neutral (no "we") and follows exactly what other pages such as Kaplan, Inc. and Barbri have done? UWorld LLC (talk) 17:19, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
See WP:CORPNAME and the block notice at the top of this page. As far as the sandbox article went, it relied heavily on news releases, and was in fact fairly promotional in tone. This is one reason why COI editing is discouraged - it's hard to write in an encyclopedic style when you employer told you to write about the company. "UWorld started as a passion project" is not a phrase that should ever occur in an encyclopedia. A much more brief, factual and frankly flatly written draft, focused on establishing notability with substantial independent sourcing that focus at some length on the company per WP:CORP would have been better. Acroterion (talk) 18:59, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It sounds like you may be mixing up the proposed article’s name (which would indeed be UWorld LLC!) and your account’s username (which absolutely cannot be UWorld LLC). My username, for example, is LEvalyn, and you’ve also been talking to Acroterion. Our usernames are clearly individual monikers and not a “group” or “company” name. This is related to the fact that the draft was not allowed as your Userpage (see my userpage at User:LEvalyn to see what they are supposed to be like) but you could try to write it as an article draft.
As for the original draft, it certainly read to me like a good-faith attempt at neutrality by someone who is too close to the subject to easily accomplish actual neutrality. I can help more with trying to write a publishable draft as soon as you pick an individual username to change to, and are unblocked. ~ le 🌸 valyn (talk) 19:39, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, LEvalyn! THAT clarifies things a lot. Yes, I was mixing up the username and proposed article's name! I definitely want the proposed article's name to be UWorld (not UWorld LLC) but I need to create a new username first, correct? Then you can help me write a publishable draft, correct?
How do I create a new user name? UWorld LLC (talk) 19:47, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If I give you my new username, you can help me get the draft content unbanned so I can work on it and make it Wikipedia compliant? UWorld LLC (talk) 19:51, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
To request a new username and an unblock, you can put this code: {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of the page (filling in your new username and an unblock reason like 'This new username follows the username policy'). Or just tell me the new one and I can handle the technical request. And then, yes, I'll undelete the draft and talk about how to work on it in Wikipedia's publishing process. ~ le 🌸 valyn (talk) 20:11, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome! Thank you! If you don't mind, I'd appreciate your help.
