አዛኒያ

አዛኒያ በ1728 ዓም ካርታ

አዛኒያ (ግሪክኛ፦ Ἀζανία) በታሪካዊ ምንጮች ውስጥ በምሥራቅ-ደቡባዊ አፍሪካ የተገኘ አገር ነበር።[1] በሮሜ መንግሥት ዘመንና ምናልባት ከዚያም በፊት፣ ከሶማሊያና ኬንያ ጀምሮ[2] እስከ ታንዛኒያ ድረስ ያለው የሕንድ ውቅያኖስ ዳርቻ አገር ሁሉ «አዛኒያ» ተብሎ ነበር። የባንቱ ፍልሰት እዚያ ከደረሰ በፊት በተለይ የኩሻዊ ቋንቋ ተናጋሪዎች ይገኙበት ነበር።[3]

«የቀይ ባሕር ጉዞ መዝገብ» በ50 ዓም ግድም በግሪክ ተጽፎ ስለ አዛኒያ ይገልጻል። ከአፍሪቃ ቀንድ እስከ ራፕታ ወደብ ድረስ (በአሁን ታንዛኒያ) ይዘርጋል፤ ይህም ራፕታ የአዛኒያ ደቡባዊ ጫፍና መርካቶ ይባላል።[4] የዝሆን ጥርስና የኤሊ ቅርፊት በራፕታ ወደብ በንግድ እንደ ተገኙ ይላል። በዚህም ጽሑፍ ዘንድ የአዛኒያ ባህር ዳር እስከ አሁኑ ሞዛምቢክ ድረስ ለሒምያር (የመን) ንጉሥ ካሪብ ኢል ተገዥ ነበር።

ትልቁ ፕሊኒ እንደ ጻፈ፣ «የአዛኒያ ባሕር» (N.H. 6.34) ከአዱሊስ መርካቶ (በአሁኑ ኤርትራ) ጀምሮ፤ ከዚያም የአፍሪካ ቀንድን ዞሮ ወደ ደቡብ ይገኝ ነበር። ከፕሊኒ በኋላ ክላውዲዎስ ቶለሚ (150 ዓም ግድም) እና ኮስማስ ኢንዲኮፕሌውስቴስ (550 ዓም) ደግሞ ጠቅሰውታል።.ኮስማስ እንዳለ በዘመኑ ለአክሱም መንግሥት ተገዥ ነበር፤ ጥጃ በወርቅ እዚያ ይገዛል ይላል።

በ250 ዓም አካባቢ በተጻፉ ቻይንኛ ሰነዶች አቅራቢያው /ዜሳን/ (澤散) ተባለ።[5]

የባንቱ ፍልሰቶች ከ950 ዓም ያህል ደረሱ።[6] ከዚህ በኋላ የባሕር ዳር አገር በአረቦች «ዘንጅ» ይባል ነበር፤ ይህም ስያሜ አሁን በዛንዚባርና በ«ታንዛኒያ» መጠሪያዎች ይታያል።

ከዚህ በላይ ባለፈው ክፍለ ዘመን አንዳንድ ወገኖች በደቡብ ሱዳን፣ ደቡብ አፍሪካና ሶማሊያ «አዛኒያ» የሚለውን ስም ወድደውት ለራሳቸው በድረውታል።
