Biografía

El so verdaderu nome yera David Henry Swim, y nació en San Francisco, California. Kirkland empecipió la so carrera cinematográfica como actor, actuando en On the Desert's Edge, un western escritu y producíu en 1911 por Broncho Billy Anderson para Essanay Studios en Chicago.

En 1913, Kirkland pasó a la direición, realizando a lo llargo de la so carrera cuarenta y cinco películes. Tamién foi guionista, roblando una docena de guiones. Amás, el so nome apaez como productor d'un únicu filme.
